NEW News
1. Message from Dr. Floyd
Good rainy Friday Woodson!
What a way to end this school year! As I reread last years message from the last day of school, I reflect on how far we have come. I’m hopeful this entire pandemic is in the rear view mirror allowing us to positively move forward.
We will stay connected over the summer via the school website and special issues of this newsletter. For those planning ahead, we have listed important dates for next school year, please see story #11.
Please have a restful summer. We will see you in August!
Stay safe and stay connected,
Dr. Floyd
2. Summer Office Hours
The Woodson Main Office will be open on weekdays from 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m. in the summer.
Registrations are by appointment only. Please contact Woodson registrar, Casey Delaney at cdelaney@fcps.edu to schedule an appointment.
3. Summer Building Tours for Students
This summer, Woodson is excited to offer the opportunity for rising 9 grade, rising 10 grade, and new-to-Woodson transfer students of all grade levels the opportunity to take a student-led tour of the school.
Rising juniors and seniors will lead small groups of new students around the school to help students become more familiar with the building ahead of the new school year.
Tours will be offered beginning in mid-July through mid-August. Specific dates and times are still being determined and will be communicated at a later date.
4. Woodson Weekly Taking a Break for Summer
This is the last issue of Woodson Weekly for the 2020-2021 school year. New issues will resume in August. Best wishes to the Class of 2021, and we hope you have a great summer vacation!
5. Laptop Return
We are required to collect each student’s FCPS-assigned laptop and charger by the end of this school year.
Students who missed laptop collection dates this week can bring their laptops to the school main office on weekdays from 10am-2pm.
If a student is participating in an FCPS summer program (ESY, credit recovery, etc.), the student is allowed to keep their laptops until August. Collection of those laptops will take place on Monday, August 9th.
We will reimage each laptop this summer and students will receive a laptop back in the fall. Underclassmen will need to tape their name to the top of the laptop if their name card has been removed.
Guidelines for the collection of laptops:
- All SENIORS and/or students leaving Woodson must complete the following steps before turning in their laptops. ALL local files, bookmarks, and programs will be erased.
- All Students Returning to Woodson must complete the following steps before turning in their laptops. All local files and bookmarks must be backed up or they will be erased.
- Laptops must be returned free of stickers, markings and other drawings, or the student will be charged a $50.00 cleaning fee.
- Students should turn in their laptop and charging cord. Students should keep their case, we will not collect cases from students.
- If a student lost their laptop or their laptop cord, they should visit the Woodson Technology site and scroll down to the Property Damage or Loss section. Payments will be made through MySchoolBucks. Students should bring a paper receipt from MySchoolBucks with them when they come to laptop collection.
6. Textbook/Library Book Returns
Please continue to return textbooks that are no longer needed for this school year.

7. Sports Physical Night
Registration is open for Woodson's annual Sports Physical Night on Wednesday, June 16th! Register HERE!
As always, the goal of Sports Physical Night is to provide a complete pre-participation examination screening that will leave student athletes with a VHSL physical valid for the entirety of the 2021-22 School Year.
Each year it is required that all student athletes have a completed VHSL physical on file before participating in sports. Price will be $50 as in previous years.
Hosting this event is our Athletic Training Program’s only fundraiser for the year and ALL proceeds go towards helping the program purchase supplies. Without your support we would not be able to provide the services we do for our student-athletes. Appointment times will be available at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, and 7:30pm.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Chris Hogge, ATC at chogge@fcps.edu .
8. NEW VHSL Physical Form for SY2021-22
This is the NEW VHSL approved Physical Form. This is the only version that can be accepted for the 2021-2022 school year. If you have a doctor fill out the old version (version that says in top right corner "revised February 2017), you will have to have your doctor complete the new one, which may require another appointment. So, please make sure the form you fill out says "revised January 2021" on the top right.
The VHSL Physical Form must be completed by a parent/guardian and doctor. In order for the physical to be accepted for the 2021-2022 school year, it cannot be filled out and dated by a doctor until May 1, 2021 or after. Once completed, please drop it off to Woodson's Activities Office, Woodson's Main Office or scan it to the Athletic Trainer Chris Hogge at chogge@fcps.edu. This must be turned in prior to participating in athletics.
The form is also available at https://www.vhsl.org/sports-medicine/physical-examination/, under Resources.
