Dear Justice Families,
Here we are, the beginning of June. We have made it. This week, we celebrate our seniors with Graduation at Fairfax High School on June 7 and our 9th through 11th grade students finish out the school year. .
Yesterday, we celebrated our seniors during our PTSA annual caravan. We had a blast. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on along the route.
Shout out to our Justice athletes. As we close out our Spring season, the wolves won 4 district titles in one week for a total of 5 championships this year. The five titles are the most since 1984! See below for details.
Just a few reminders, June 8th is a synchronous day (no in-person classes). All students will be virtual and school ends at 11:35 AM. June 9th and 10th are half days and students will be released at 11:35 AM. Friday, June 11th is a two-hour day. Students will be released at 10:20 AM.

On Friday, June 4th, Ms. Lunger and her students debuted the JHS sensory garden. The garden includes a seating area, pavers, green space, and herb and flower gardens. The sensory garden was made possible through the PTSA teacher grants program and the hard work of students, staff, and parents.
In what has been an unpresented and challenging year for high school athletics, the Wolves are thriving! This past week proved to be the #WeekoftheWolves. The wolves won 4 district titles in one week, the first time this has occurred in school history! Girls Lacrosse, Boys Lacrosse, Boys Soccer and Girls Soccer all capped off wonderful regular seasons with National District Championships! In combination with the Field Hockey team’s title earlier this year, Justice has totaled 5 Championships through this school year. The five titles are the most since 1984! Congratulations to all of our coaches, athletes and their families on these major accomplishments. They have worked so hard and overcome so much.
There is still work to do! Our spring teams will all compete in the upcoming Occoquan Region championships. Be on the lookout for more information regarding scheduling, especially for Monday, June 14th where the Wolves could host 4 regional 1st round games in one day!
For the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, FCPS will be requiring students and staff to continue to wear masks and socially distance during instructional time in the school building.
There has been updated guidance for events and activities outside of instructional time in the school building. This website will give you the latest information.
As the year is coming to a close, below is some important information regarding schedules and textbook and laptop return. This year, all books, calculators, and laptops will need to be returned to school. All laptops must be reimaged, cleaned, and reset for next school year. If these items are not returned by the end of the year, you will be charged with the costs. Also, laptops will not be functional next year if they are not reimaged/reset over the summer. All underclassmen will have their laptops reissued before school begins in August. Please see below for detailed information.

Laptop and School Material Collection
All Students:
- Students in-person on Thursday June 10th will leave their laptop and charger with their 5th period teacher following their last exam.
- All other students will need to return laptops, chargers (and mifis), textbooks and all other school materials in the Little Theater on Friday, June 11th between 10:30am-4:00pm. The Little Theater is located to the right of Door 1 and will have an open door to the front parking lot.
***If students are taking summer credit recover courses, they may keep their laptop over the summer and return it following their summer courses. Additional information will come out over summer regarding that collection***
Yearbooks have arrived and are ready for pick up! Students can pick up pre-ordered books, or purchase books on the below dates. If students would still like to purchase a book, they are being sold on a first come, first serve basis. Books are $70 cash or check. Checks should be written out to Justice High School.
- Freshmen, June 10th from 3pm-6:30pm
- Sophomores, June 11th from 10:30am-4pm
- Juniors, June 14th from 12pm-5pm
Final Grades will be available in ParentVUE/StudentVUE on Friday, June 11th. Parents/Guardians may opt into “Go Paperless” for report cards by logging into ParentVUE, then going to “My Account” and selecting "Go Paperless!". This is the only way to keep a paper report card from being generated for students at the secondary level. Report Cards will be mailed by Friday June 18th.
ParentVUE/ StudentVUE will be closed Friday, June 18th at 4pm until Tuesday, June 22nd at 6am.
The band is looking for a few good members for our color guard. Color guard members spin flags along with the marching band. If you, or your child are looking for an awesome, positive group experience in the fall consider joining color guard. Effective July 1, 2021, rising seniors are required to have one dose of Meningococcal Vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra, or Menveo). This requirement is for all current 11th graders/rising seniors. Parents or guardians should ask their private healthcare provider, or the health department, to review their student's immunization record to ensure that their student has received these required immunizations. If you need to submit an updated immunization record, please send it/drop it off to Ms. Maddie Orozco in Student Services. More information on new immunization requirements is available here.
Twelfth grade students cannot begin school in August without documentation of the Meningococcal vaccine with one dose given at age 16 or older.
Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous learning day (no in-person classes) for students.

FCPS will provide multiple in-person opportunities for students at all levels this summer. FCPS is planning for 10 times the normal summer program capacity to address increased student learning needs.
Credit Recovery
Summer Credit Recovery is an opportunity for students to recover two high-school course credits. Students may take one course per session. Please contact your student's counselor for more information, or see the Summer School Registration Website
Institute for the Arts (IFTA)
FCPS is excited to offer our enrichment program in person! This summer’s program will be reduced in size to keep in accordance with social distancing guidelines. Space is limited, and registration is on a first-come basis until seats are filled.
Summer Learning: Online Campus
Middle and high school students who meet the course prerequisites can take one online course. Students who have completed a high school math course may take an online campus math class. For more information see the FCPS Summer Learning Website.

Fairfax County’s Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) offers several summer camp programs for students ranging from rising 1st graders to teens. Registration is now open for NCS camps, which run from June through August. Summer camp programs include:

Summer Reading Adventure Begins June 11
The Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) summer reading program starts on June 11 and runs through August 13. Students are welcome to sign up now on Beanstack and can track their summer reading online.
Opportunities to read and earn prizes include:
- Just for signing up, participants will be eligible to win a $25 e-gift card to Scrawl Books.
- By reading 500 minutes, students will be eligible to win a $50 Chipotle gift card.
- Completing the program by reading 1,000 minutes OR reading 500 minutes and completing 5 activity badges, will offer participants a chance to win a $150 Amazon e-gift card.
Prizes will be awarded after the completion of Summer Reading Adventure and winners will be notified by August 31.

- Visit www.vaccines.gov to find other vaccine providers in the community, including local pharmacies. Be sure to search for Pfizer vaccine which is the only vaccine currently for use on children 12 –17 years.
- Many locations are offering walk-in appointments.
- Walk-in appointments are also being offered at the Tysons Community Vaccination Center Monday–Saturday from 9 a.m.–4p.m. This center is in the former Lord & Taylor site at Tysons Center at 7950 Tysons Corner Center in McLean. Note: This center is closing on June10,2021.

Housing Voucher Registration
The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) owns 1,060 units of housing made available through the Rental Assistance Demonstration-Project Based Voucher (RAD-PBV) program. Units include one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom townhouses, garden apartments and condominiums located in communities all throughout Fairfax County.

FCPS Receives ESSER III Funding; Community Feedback Wanted
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has received American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools. The funds also address the impact of COVID-19 on students by supporting their academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs, among others.
FCPS is seeking stakeholder input on how our community would like the grant to be used in support of students, staff, and school operations. The community is invited to speak at a Fairfax County School Board Public Hearing about the ESSER III grant on June 7, at 6 p.m. Sign up to speak.
