read

The Irving MS Summer READ! Program, which runs from June 12th -August 22nd, gives students a lot of choice in what they read.  While logged into their Google account, students may view a choice board that lists many different types of things that students can opt to read.  Completing a choice board square and filling out a Google Form about what they read earns the student one (1) ticket.

Each ticket serves as one (1) entry in the drawing for prizes that will happen at the beginning of next school year.   Students can earn up to 24 tickets throughout the summer.  Four students’ names will be chosen to receive $25 Barnes and Noble gift cards.  A student may only win one (1) gift card.

Library News

BRING THEM BACK:  We’re calling for all library items to be returned as soon as possible.  Items borrowed by students may be returned ANY weekday, from around 7:45 until 1:15 (to avoid bus congestion).  There is a big, metal book return that sits right inside the school’s main entrance.  In-person students may simply bring their books to the library for return.

Please check for ANY FCPS books that might be in your home.  Many things were not returned from when students borrowed items as 6th graders in their elementary schools.  Please help us get all of these materials back to their proper schools so that other students can enjoy them.

Tech Tips

The Irving Tech Team wishes you a safe and enjoyable summer! In the event that you are leaving FCPS and your child would like to download items from their Google Drive to take with them, please follow this link and scroll to the section titled Downloading Your Data.

News from your PTA

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Car Wash!!

Have you volunteered yet?! Come out to celebrate the great Irving staff on June 9th (rain date on June 10th) by offering them a drive thru car wash. Weather forecast says SUNNY and HOT so what a great way to beat the heat!! Please use the SignUp genius to volunteer for a June 9th shift here (and a June 10th shift here, just in case).  Volunteers will get a coupon for Kona Ice because the PTA is providing a Kona Ice truck at school from 10:30am to 12:30pm for Teacher Appreciation as well!!  Staff show their FCPS ID to get a treat during their lunch!!

The PTA does not function without volunteers!

For next year's activities, we need support! Especially as we move back to in-person events. We recently had volunteers step forward to fill our audit committee that will meet this summer, but there are some standing opportunities available. If you are interested, please review the information here, and sign up where you can!

If you have other ideas or a unique skill set, don't hesitate to contact the PTA directly at IrvingMSPTA@gmail.com.

For any questions, comments or ideas, please contact us at IrvingMSPTA@gmail.com.
