A Note From Mr. Gates
First, THANK YOU to the Hollin Meadows PTA for putting together a fabulous Food Truck Night at Hollin Meadows this past Wednesday. So many families showed up to see friends, enjoy good food, and remember what a great time we have together at Hollin Meadows. It was great seeing everyone’s smiling faces!
Now on to less joyful business. At the end of each school year, we say farewell to some staff members. Some retire. Some move away. Some transfer to other schools for new opportunities or to work closer to home. This year some staff are also leaving due to our Comprehensive Services Site (CSS) program closing at the end of this school year. We support our staff when they move on to new adventures, but we’re sad to say goodbye. If you have had the pleasure of knowing or working with any of these stars, please extend your appreciation and best wishes. Their email addresses can be found here.
Farewell and congratulations to the following retirees: Kathy Boykin, second grade teacher and Todd Paxton, first grade teacher.
We wish all the best to the following staff members who are moving to new positions: David Banks, third grade teacher (moving to DCPS, closer to home); Christina Hagemeier, art therapist, (moving to new school due to closing of CSS program); Jamiah Harrison, music teacher, (moving to a full-time postion at another school); Misty Lineberry, special education teacher (moving to a school closer to home); Matt Porter, sixth grade teacher (moving to middle school); and Joshua Rocheh, crisis counselor (moving to new school due to closing of CSS program) .
We have been working to hire new staff members to fill in behind these great teachers, and I’m confident that the new faces on our staff in 2021-22 will fit our hard-working and caring school culture!
The final week is upon us! Finish Strong.
Jon Gates, Principal
