Message from Mrs. Castillo

Birthday

First and foremost, a huge thank you for making my birthday this week so special! I received so many cards, bouquets of flowers, and sweet treats and I appreciated each one.

I can hardly believe that next week is the last week of the 2020 – 2021 school year! Lemon Road will have celebrations all week long to close out the year in a fun and positive way. To start, take a look at this amazing virtual music recital organized by our music team at Lemon Road: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zFXay_KP0jRy8jdFL1ZyVZSDaWmPhqNp/view?usp=sharing

Monday, June 7 will be our last grade level morning meeting and enrichments. Please remind any SCA officers and classroom representative to join their end of year celebration at 9:40 in their typical meeting link. We hope every lion will participate in the last Monday of enrichment activities with our amazing specialists!

Tuesday, June 8 is a virtual synchronous day for all FCPS students. Your child must log into their virtual morning meeting with their classroom teacher and buddy then will have a day full of enrichments, an assembly, mystery reader, field day, work in ST Math and Imagine Literacy, and even the opportunity to meet the grade level teachers for next year! The entire school will have a break in the middle of the day from 11:45 – 12:45 to eat lunch and get outside.

Grade level end of year parties are scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each grade will have an outdoor party for both the in-person and virtual students. Parents who are volunteering during the party should bring their ID and check in with the classroom teacher upon arrival. Please do not bring additional family members (grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc.) to the party. All students that attend their grade level party will receive our complimentary Memory Book to remember this very special year with. If your child cannot make the party, they may pick up their memory book when they return their laptop on June 16.

On Thursday, June 10, we will celebrate the promotion of our 6th graders with family photos outside, a live streamed promotion, and an outdoor party. Thank you to the teachers and parents that have been planning the event and for the PTA funds to make the day extra special!

Lastly, on Friday, June 11, all classes will participate in the virtual awards assemblies. K – 2 will begin at 9:30 and 3 – 6 will begin at 10:30. Both assemblies can be joined virtually using 24/7 under Collaborate by searching awards. Students dismiss at 1:30 on Friday and our staff plan to line the sidewalks to wave out our students both on the buses and being picked up by parents.

We are looking forward to a fantastic last week of school! Thank you ~ Mrs. Castillo

LRES Summer School - Register!

Bus Evacuation

This summer, from July 12 – 30, Lemon Road is hosting summer programs for rising kindergartners through rising 7th graders. Parents of students most in need of these classes were emailed individually. If you did not receive an email and would like your child to be considered, email Tom Hickman (tjhickman@fcps.edu) directly. He will let you know if there is currently space in your child’s program and send parents the link to register.

Summer Activity & Read Board

Activity Board

This summer, we are bringing back some of our routines including a summer read board and visits from the Book Mobile! Copies of the summer read board will be sent home with in-person students next week and will be able to picked up with the memory books when laptops are returned on June 16. Here is a screenshot of the top portion to get your children excited! We are also planning for the Book Mobile to run on July 15 and August 4 – more details to come.

June 8 Virtual Day Schedule

As mentioned above, the schedule for June 8 will look different than a typical virtual day. The students are required to log in and participate throughout the day. Here is a big picture view of what the day will look like for kindergarteners through grade six.

Field Day Materials - June 8

Part of the day on June 8 is an hour for Field Day! To help your child be prepared, here are some items to help gather in advance, if you can, so they are ready to participate fully! Field day activities can be completed indoors or outside. The teachers will get the students started but will release the students to participate in the activities asynchronously.
