Congratulations to the Mount Vernon Class of 2021!
This week we celebrated our graduates at the 81st Commencement of Mount Vernon High School. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A recording of the entire graduation program is available on the MVHS website.
Oh the Places We'll Go!
In honor of the Class of 2021 two amazing majors Iris Boateng and Emma Hosek designed and painted this beautiful mural celebrating the class of 2021 and all of their amazing postsecondary plans.
Congratulations to all of our MVHS seniors. We wish you all the best and can't wait to see and hear about all the places that you go.

2021 MVHS Awards Programs
On June 1st we aired our Virtual Underclassmen Awards program. MVHS 9th-11th grade students were celebrated by their teachers for their hard work this year in academics, the arts and various activities. Our students received words of encouragement from a very special guest and Mount Vernon Alum
Mr. Tony Perkins of WUSA channel 9 news.

Certificates from this year’s program and last year’s program will be available to in-person students during Major Time on Thursday June 10th. Virtual students can pick up awards from the main office anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on June 10th and 11th.
Seniors were also recognized the evening of June 1st. That presentation and video will be shared in a separate message to families on Monday, June 7th.
Wellness Tip of the Week
As we bring this school year to a close, final exams and final grades may cause some additional stress for some of our students. Please note that this year final exams will only be used to improve a student's grade. As you prepare to end the 2020-21 school year here are some tips as we approach our final week of school.
Calendar Reminder: All Students will be Virtual on June 8th due to Democratic Primary Election
Tuesday, June 8th, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8th will be a virtual synchronous learning day (no in-person classes) for students. Get more information about the primary elections.
