A Note from the PTA

Dear Bren Mar Park Family,

As my term as the Bren Mar Park PTA President comes to a close, I can't help but reflect on how grateful I am for your steadfast engagement and support over the past 2 years. You were gracious as I learned the "PTA" ropes and remained supportive of initiatives to support our students. You challenged me to keep the PTA values of Collaboration, Commitment, Diversity, Respect and Accountability at the forefront in every PTA initiative. You provided me with great feedback and innovative ideas we were able to implement including adding foreign languages to our after-school enrichment programs, providing scholarships so more students could be included in enrichment activities, and expanding Restaurant Night options to offer BMP family favorites.

Even though the past year was unprecedented, you still put the needs of our children first by supporting our "FUNraisers" to keep the sense of community alive. I want to thank the PTA Executive Board, committee members, and most importantly our staff and parent volunteers who gave their time and support.

As our board transitions this year, I am super excited about the rockstar team on deck for next year! Help me welcome the new Bren Mar Park Exec. Board:

  • President - Kristin Melita
  • Vice President of Community Engagement/Enrichment - Treffaney Lowe
  • Treasurer - Katie Hollier
  • Secretary - Vacant

The 2021-22 PTA still needs a Secretary to serve on the Executive Board.  The PTA also needs committee members who can champion initiatives including Restaurant Nights, Fundraising, Events, Outreach and Marketing, Budget, and Fairfax County PTA and Title I representatives.  Please reach out to bmp.pta@gmail.com to volunteer.

Again, thank you for the honor of serving as the Bren Mar Park PTA president. Remember the PTA's mission in everything you do for Bren Mar Park Mustangs - "...to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children."

Sincerely,

Barbara Alston (Joey's Mom) - 2019-2021 PTA President

Specialist Spotlight on Counseling

As this year wraps up, Ruth and I would like to express our gratitude for working with us this year to support our students.  Your children have shown resiliency and have surprised us many times with their ability to adapt whether that was to online learning or back in the physical classroom.  Our hope is that they will take the lessons they have learned to help them build confidence both academically and socially as they continue their academic career.

All our best to our 5th graders moving onto middle school!  It has been our pleasure and joy working with you and getting to know you.  Again, thanks for the opportunity to work with your children.  Enjoy the summer and the memories yet to be made!

Jessie Lanier and Ruth Dalrymple
