Principal's Message
Parents and Guardians,
Next week we will celebrate this incredible year and recognize our students in a number of events. On June 8th, all the students are at home and online with teachers. The building will be closed for the elections taking place in Virginia that day. During each period that day teachers will project the Annual Hughes Got Talent Show, the 7th and 8th Grade Awards Ceremony, and A Virtual 8th Grade Celebration Show.
On Thursday evening, we will host our 8th graders for a parade. Come drop off laptops and supplies, and lap around the bus loop for some treats and goodbyes from the staff. We want to wish our students well as we move into the summer!
Please check the Hughes website by clicking on link https://hughesms.fcps.edu/node/4907 for further details about supply collection. In person students will turn laptops in class on Jun 9th.
Students who have a musical instrument to return can do so in the main office vestibule during school hours 8am to 2:30pm from June 1st through June 9th.
This year has really been a true testament to the strong community we have at Langston Hughes Middle School. Thank you for your continued support for all that we do here. We make great things happen for children together!
Aimee Monticchio
Principal

Please note that items need to be dropped off at the school office NO LATER than Monday, June 7th to the attention of Marion Perry. Please label them "8th Grade Parade".
Thank you for making this special event possible!
Transportation
Because we understand that transportation can be difficult for some of our students, we have made arrangements with transportation to provide a bus at the following elementary schools for 8th graders and their parent to grab a ride to participate and be part of the parade; Dogwood, Forest Edge, Hunters Woods and Lake Ann. If you need a ride, please sign up under the elementary school that is near you, by clicking on the link below.

PANTHER REBOOT
As we begin to put this year behind us, and begin the anticipation of a new school year, we have decided to give students the opportunity to “REBOOT”. On Aug 5th, we are inviting current 7th graders to help kick-off the new school year with a day of reviewing life at Langston Hughes. Attendees will participate in enriching sessions such as: Study Habits, Student Life/ Leadership, Team Building, and much more. All rising 8th graders are encouraged to attend Panther Reboot, and we highly recommend it for students who will be transitioning to “in-person” instruction this fall. Our hope is that Panther Reboot will foster community building within our Langston Hughes Family.
