Westbriar ES - Community Newsletter and End of Year Update

Dear Westbriar Community,

First, let me say, THANK YOU for the enthusiastic support you provide to the students and staff of Westbriar ES.  During my brief time here at Westbriar I could not have encountered a more welcoming community whether online or in person-that goes for students, staff, and parents alike. Happy people make a happy community. And that makes a great place for children to learn and grow. Keep doing what you are doing, Westbriar. You’ve got a great thing going! 😊

Let me be the first to welcome back Ms. Tam to Westbriar after the Memorial Day Holiday! I know she has missed being here and looks forward to coming back.  It’s been a pleasure for me to be a part of her well-run school. As an experienced principal, I admire the work that Ms. Tam and her staff have done and are continuing to do here at Westbriar. I know that Ms. Tam is excited to return as this school year ends. Welcome Back, Ms. Tam!!

Here are just a few End of Year (EOY) items for your attention before the holiday weekend.

Election Day is Tuesday, June 8th! It will be a virtual day for all FCPS students.

Last Day of School, Friday, June 11th is a 2 hour early closing. Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm.

Masks at school for the remainder of the year- For the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, FCPS will be requiring students and staff to continue to wear masks and socially distance during instructional time both indoors and outdoors on school grounds including for recess. FCPS will maintain CDC requirements of 3 feet social distance in classrooms and 6 feet social distancing in our cafeterias through June 15. Both these requirements are aligned with the Fairfax County Health Department guidance and helps maintain consistency as we finish out the year.
