If you can't get away from all the cicadas,

you might as well have cicada skateboard races!

farewell

Good-Bye

This time of year is always hard when we have to say good-bye to some of our amazing staff. This year Gracie Chevalier, 6th Grade Teacher, and Diane Lewan, Kindergarten IA, are moving on from Little Run to other endeavors. We wish them the best in all that lies ahead. They will be missed.

Calendar Reminder:

FCPS Schools and Offices Closed on May 31 for Memorial Day Holiday

As a reminder, schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 31, for the Memorial Day holiday. Students are not expected to complete asynchronous assignments that day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, June 1. See the complete 2020-21 school year calendar

All Students to Be Virtual on June 8 Due to Democratic Primary Election

Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous learning day (no in-person classes) for students.

End of Year Laptop Procedures

As the end of the school year approaches, we wanted to share with you the procedures related to the FCPS laptop assigned to your student.  We will be collecting all student laptops (unless you are participating in any of the FCPS summer academic programs) at the end of this school year, so that we may complete our inventory and maintenance on our laptop collection.

You will have two options for returning the student laptop to the school.

  • Return the laptop at the end of the school year.
    1. In-person students should be sure to bring their laptop AND charger on Wednesday (6/9) and Friday (6/11) of the last week. The tech team will coordinate with the teachers to drop off laptops during the day.
    2. Virtual students may drop off the laptop AND charger at the front bus loop on either Friday (6/11) from 2:00-3:00pm or on Tuesday (6/15) from 9:00-10:00am.
  • If your student is participating in FCPS in-person or virtual summer learning programs, you may keep the laptop until the end of the program. We will contact you later this summer to return the laptop at the conclusion of summer learning programs.

If your student will no longer be enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools, please plan to drop off the FCPS laptop per the instructions above.

Please note that we will re-distribute laptops to our students in the fall when our inventory and maintenance is complete, so your student will be able to use an FCPS laptop again next year.

Information to pay for a lost or damaged laptop and/or a lost or damaged charger will be coming soon.

Laptop Care

  • All laptops need to be cleaned prior to being returned; stickers removed and residue cleaned- DO NOT remove the barcode.
  • Laptop plastic pocket should have student ID card or student ID number written on paper for check-in purposes.
  • All power cords must be neatly wrapped.

Tune into the new Schoology and Me Podcast

FCPS students, families, and staff are transitioning to Schoology (pronounced /SKOO-luh-jee/) as FCPS’ divisionwide learning management system beginning July 2021. Schoology is a learning space that enhances communication, collaboration, and personalized learning for students, teachers, and families.

Listen to Schoology and Me, a lighthearted podcast hosted by Aron Sterling from Instructional Services and Shane Wheeler from Information Technology.  Listeners will:

  • Hear from pilot school communities about their experiences; and
  • Learn about updates and cool features available in Schoology to support teaching and learning.

Summer Access to Digital Resources

Great news!  All current students will continue to have access to many of the digital resources they have utilized this school year.  Students will be able to access the programs housed in Clever (ST Math, Imagine Learning, Wixie) through August 6th.  After that point, class sectioning will begin at the IT level, so Clever access will be limited.  Throughout the summer, students will still have access to MyOn, PebbleGo, TumbleBooks, and all of our research databases.  Student usernames and passwords will remain the same over the summer, so logging in will be no different.  Check out our Student Resources Site, which serves as a landing page for our digital resources!

* Please note that the Student Resources Site requires a student (fcpsschools.net) login for security purposes.*
