Daily Student Guide For June 4 - 10

Do you want to know what's happening during the last week of school? Reference this end of year slideshow to view the daily schedule and reminders beginning Friday, June 4.

View here or print for reference. Also posted on the Robinson website.

Laptop Return Schedule

This year FCPS is requiring ALL students to return their school-issued laptops and chargers.  We have created a schedule that should work for both the in-person and virtual students.

The laptop and charger will need to be free of all stickers and other paraphernalia that may have been attached throughout the year prior to returning the laptop.  Bringing a laptop with those items still attached will need to be cleaned at the drop off station thus delaying the turn-in time.

If a student is taking a class over the summer, credit recovery, or a type or enrichment they will hold onto their laptops and chargers until the activity has been completed.  Once they finish, they will bring their laptops to the main office at Robinson and the tech team will check them in throughout the summer.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact Assistant Principal Chris Farmerie at cfarmerie@fcps.edu

End of School Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal on Thursday June 10, 2021. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. Please contact Health Room with questions or concerns at (703) 426-2110.

VRSPT – Virginia Remote Student Progress Test

Students who are fully virtual and refused one or more SOLs due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns are eligible to take the Virginia Remote Student Progress Test (VRSPT).

Emails have been sent to students and parents/guardians regarding the VRSPT. If you feel that you should have received VRSPT information, but didn’t, please reach out to Kim Longworth, Robinson MS Test Coordinator at kalongworth@fcps.edu.

  • These tests are not required.
  • Only Math 7, Math 7 HN (Math 8) and Prealgebra (Math 8) will take the math VRSPT.
  • If you decide to take the tests, you must finish them by Friday, June 4, 2021. We recommend that you do not attempt more than one test per day.
  • Students should not take both the SOL and VRSPT. Only the SOL score will be kept.
  • The test is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you need to log out before you finish the test, you will be able to resume your test where you stopped when you log back in.
  • Your individual test login information will arrive in the mail. You will have a test ticket with a login code for each VRSPT assessment that is available to you. Email kalongworth@fcps.edu if you have not received your test tickets and wish to take the VRSPT.
  • Please visit the Virginia Remote Student Progress Test webpage for more information.

Yearbook Distribution

Thank you for buying the 2021 Robinson MS yearbook, Headed In A New Direction. The yearbook staff is honored to be able to make this book for you, to capture your memories and moments from middle school. Take time to appreciate how far we’ve come together this year as you enjoy your yearbook. It was a difficult, unusual year for all of us, but we did it! We hope that you love your yearbook, because we loved making it for you.

Please review the schedule to see when you can pick up your yearbook. If you haven't yet purchased a book, please come to distribution with $40 for the MS book or $80 for the HS book. Cash only.

FAQ:

I can’t make it that day. Can someone else pick up my yearbook for me?

Yes, BUT you must email Ms. Forte (amforte@fcps.edu) giving another person permission to pick up your yearbook. Include your first and last name, your grade, the name of the person picking up the book for you, and a statement that you give him/her permission to do this.

Can I purchase a yearbook on Distribution Day?

We have a LIMITED number of Middle School yearbooks to sell. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Yearbooks can be purchased for $40. You must pay with cash.

I found a mistake in the book! What should I do?

Smile and take a deep breath. This is a student-created publication and staffers worked their hardest to ensure the book is as accurate and error-free as possible. Please email Adrienne Forte (amforte@fcps.edu), yearbook adviser, with comments. She will forward them on to the editorial staff so that they can learn from the errors and do better next year.

What if I cannot pick up my yearbook on any of these days?

Students can pick up their yearbook when school reopens in August.

Can you order more books from the plant?

No, that is not possible as it is cost prohibitive.

Course Selection Confirmation

Parents, last week you should have received a letter that included your student’s course selections for the 2021-2022 school year.  This is not their actual schedule, but a list of classes that they are enrolled in for next year.  Please review the letter and courses with your child.  While every effort is made to accommodate students’ first elective choices, we cannot guarantee placement in any particular elective course until the student’s schedule is finalized in August.

Also, if you will be moving or changing schools over the summer, please complete the intent form and send that to Melanie Knowlton (maknowlton@fcps.edu).

If you need any help with the course selections, please reach out to the appropriate counselor.
