Dear Family  Fairfax,

Happy Friday--and only two more newsletters this year!  We have been busy planning for June 1st, and we are so appreciative of Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax for all of their support.  It is that village coming to the rescue again (and again and again and again).

We had five rehearsals for our seniors this week--five  I think we can expect that the processional and recessional won’t be absolutely perfect since students couldn’t rehearse together with the actual set up, but it will be our graduation, special and beautiful because we are together...at last. Tom Horn, Brian Plancich, and Laura Rotella, along with a number of staff members, have spent a lot of time getting us ready for our outdoor graduation.  We are blessed to have so many professionals in the building who consistently rise above and then far exceed our expectations--and I know our graduation will be another stellar example!

With yearbook distribution, NCAA signings, and senior nights for softball and chorus, Fairfax continues to be a (happily) busy place.  Here at the end of the year, it is starting to feel more normal, and We. Could. Not. Be. Happier.

I will miss this place, but I will save that for another newsletter.

As a reminder, for graduation on Tuesday all classes are asynchronous so that we can all celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2021!

Technology Update

If you are a Senior or you are leaving FCPS, and you want to take your work with you, please follow these simple steps to download your work from Google Drive (only work you are the owner of will be downloaded):

  1. Log in to www.fcpsschools.net.
  2. Select all of your files and folders in your drive
  • Press Ctrl + A on a PC.
  • Press  (Command) + A on a Mac.
  1. Near the screen's upper right-hand corner, you will see three vertical dots (). Click on the three dots and then click on Download.
  2. Google will then create a ZIP (compressed) file of all of your files and folders. This may take a while if you have a lot of files. In the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, you will see a pop-up that says Preparing Download.
  3. Once your files have been successfully zipped, the pop-up will say Download ready, and your browser should automatically begin downloading the ZIP file to your computer.

Note: Your Google files (documents, presentations, and spreadsheets) will be downloaded in Microsoft Office format (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Pre-Sale Online Ticketing for Spring Sports

This spring will be our very first season of using a brand new interface for purchasing tickets for Fairfax HS sporting events (Lacrosse, Soccer and Track) at Harold Stalnaker Stadium, called ETix. ETix will allow our fans to purchase tickets online, prior to any game or meet hosted in the FHS Stadium. To purchase tickets in advance, use this link (or the QR code below) to select the event for which you want tickets, then use your credit card information to purchase the number of tickets you want. You will receive a confirmation email for your purchase, and you will pull up that email on your phone to present to the ticket booth, scanning your ticket. This same procedure will also be used for those who wish to make credit card purchases for tickets at the gate on the day of the event.

We are excited about this opportunity of using this new eTix system, but you still have the option of using cash.

If you have any questions about these procedures, please contact Cathy Horacek at cshoracek@fcps.edu.
