End of the Year Laptop Return
FCPS has mandated that all FCPS student laptops be collected NO LATER than June 11. The only exceptions are for students enrolled in a summer school program who need their laptop to participate. Our ICES plan below is to ensure we are in compliance with FCPS while respecting the last week of academic instruction. Please read the information below carefully and work with your teachers to help us make this process as efficient as possible.
In-Person Students will return their laptops and chargers to the classroom on Wednesday, June 9. They may continue to use their laptops at school for the rest of the week, but they are not to go home after June 9.
Virtual Students are asked to start returning laptops and chargers on Wednesday, June 9, when possible; however they are not required to turn in laptops until Friday, June 11 by 12:00 pm. If your child has a personal device to access school activities for the final week, we would love to have you return your FCPS laptop sooner (Wednesday or Thursday, 9:30 am to 3:00 pm). If your child’s only device for connecting to instruction is their FCPS assigned laptop, we ask that you return the laptop on Friday, June 11 before 12:00 pm. Teachers have been asked to avoid any essential instruction, activities or celebrations after 12:00 pm. Please complete this ICES Student Laptop Return 2021 form for EACH Virtual Learning student in your family. Staff members will be ready outside the front doors of the school to receive your laptop. Remember to bring your charger!
Please direct any questions you have about the laptop return process to your child’s classroom teacher, including inquiries about financial replacement for missing laptops or chargers.

Student Application for Virtual Enrollment, Based on Health Needs, Due May 28
If your child is currently attending school virtually and you would like for them to remain virtual due to their documented health or medical needs for the 2021-22 school year, the deadline to submit the COVID-19 Health Eligibility Form and the Virtual Enrollment Application is Friday, May 28, which is one week later than the original deadline of May 21. Please be aware that the medical need must be based upon the student, not a sibling’s or a family member’s health condition.
All parents of virtual students were sent a letter on May 17 with information on how to apply.
Kindergarten/New Student Registration is Open
Parents of Kindergarteners and New Students should complete the New Student Registration intake form. Your information will be submitted to our school Student Information Assistant, Theresa Painter, who will be able to assist you with the registration process.
Current Island Creek students do not need to re-register.
Has or Will Your Address Be Changing?
If you have moved or will be moving before the end of the school year, please inform Theresa Painter at tepainter@fcps.edu. This will ensure that your family will continue to get important information for the rest of this school year. Please note that even if you have, or will, move out of the Island Creek boundary before the end of the school year, your child(ren) can continue at Island Creek through the last day of school.
