Thank You

On Monday evening, we began the transition process of the PTA Board.  We thank Heather Kenney – Co-President, Stephanie Petrucelli – Co-President, Mitch Schwartz – Vice-President, Kim Bryant – Treasurer, and Molly Peng – Secretary for 2 years of supporting the students, staff, and community of VES.  We welcome and thank our incoming board for the 2021-22 school year: Taylor Kreiger – President, Jing Sun – Treasurer, Gul Raza Gharbieh – Secretary.  The Vice-President position is still open if you would like to volunteer.

We are currently in the second week of SOL testing, and we want to thank our families in grades 3-6 who are supporting their children with going to bed early, eating a good breakfast, and encouraging their child to do their very best.

As we move closer to the end of the 2020-21 school year, we appreciate your continued support of our teachers and staff.  We are excited to begin the planning process for next school year, and all the positive possibilities it holds for us all.  Have a wonderful rest of your week!

Sincerely,

Mr. Carmichael

Principal

Kindergarten Orientation

Please click on this link where you will be directed to our Kindergarten website location.  We have created this page to review and look back on at your leisure.  We know that all families are very busy and there is no perfect time for all families to view at the same time.  Here you will meet our current Kindergarten team as well as some of the specialists in the building.  There are also videos of what the Kindergarten day looks like as well as an opportunity to ask general questions.  We will use these questions and answer them, to the best of our ability, as an FAQ page for all families.  We are so excited to welcome our newest Vikings in the August.

No School

Monday, May 31st is Memorial Day.  There is no school and the building is closed.

LAPTOP COLLECTION

Please note that we will be collecting ALL student laptops prior to summer vacation.  If your child is no longer using the FCPS device, you may turn it in anytime, Monday-Friday, in the front office between the hours of 8:30 am-4:00 pm.

Steps for Return:

  1. Power cord is wrapped and secured with a rubber band.
  2. Laptop is cleaned using a lightly damp Clorox wipe. Please remove all stickers using a cotton ball and, if needed, Goo Gone.

Virtual students can return their laptop, charger, and mifi’s on Friday, June 11th from 1:45 – 4:00 or Monday, June 14th from 8am – 4pm.  In-person students will simply leave their laptop and charger at school and will be collected the last week of school.  Laptop collection is necessary, so that all equipment can be cleaned, repaired and reimaged for students to use in the fall.  Please remember that students who have been issued a FCPS laptop and charger will need to return them during this time to avoid being charged for the equipment. Any student who requires their FCPS issued laptop to participate in FCPS summer programs will be reissued a computer prior to the start of those programs.  Thank you in advance for your help in this process.

Virtual Instruction 2021-22 School Year - Deadline Extended

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is excited to welcome all students and staff back to our buildings this fall for five days of in-person learning! We encourage all students to return to in-person learning; however, if there is a documented health or medical need then students can apply for a virtual option for next school year.  If your student is currently attending virtually, you will receive a communication from FCPS explaining the approval process and documentation needed to apply to the FCPS Virtual School option. The virtual school option will be limited and is intended to support students for health or medical reasons. The deadline to submit your application is May 28th.

Any student who is approved for virtual learning next year will take classes from the FCPS virtual program. They will be in classes with students from all over FCPS and their courses will be taught by FCPS teachers other than Vienna teachers.
