A Message from the Principal

Dear Ravensworth Families,

Thank you so much for celebrating our wonderful Ravensworth staff last week. They loved the delicious luncheon and treats provided by the PTA and the sweet cards, letters, and gifts from the students.  It’s been an especially challenging school year, which made families’ appreciation even more special to our staff.  Thank you for being so supportive.

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria

Principal

Student Placements for 2021-2022

While it is still early to be thinking ahead to next year, we want to give you information about class placements for the 2021-2022 school-year ahead of time.  The staff at Ravensworth Elementary works hard to place students in an optimal learning situation each year.  If you have some information that would help us make those decisions, please send your comments in writing to Mrs. Aspuria by May 28th.  Please do not list teacher names.  Rather, describe the classroom academic learning environment in which your child learns best.

American Academy of Pediatrics Endorses FCPS’ Five Days of In-Person Learning

Great news! Last week, the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics endorsed FCPS’ model of providing five days of in-person instruction for all children this fall. This endorsement by a highly respected group of pediatricians validates our belief that in-person learning is best for children. The AAP’s Virginia Chapter also believes that virtual instruction should be utilized only when necessary and in consultation with a child’s physician or medical team.

This is incredible news for FCPS in support of our efforts to encourage all students to return for five days of in-person learning this fall. #FCPSReturningStrong

inmun

Immunization Requirement Updates

Effective July 1, 2021, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) will require new school entry immunizations. All grade levels will be affected by these additional immunizations.

Required for School Entry:

  • A minimum of two doses of Hepatitis (A) vaccine are required: For SY 2021/2022, Kindergarten students must have two doses of Hepatitis A.
  • A minimum of two doses of Meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccine are required: For SY 2021/2022, 7th grade students must have one dose and 12th grade students must have one dose.
  • A minimum of one dose of Rotavirus (RV) vaccine is required: One dose is required for students less than eight months of age.

Kiss and Ride

As a reminder, the Kiss and Ride flow of traffic is to enter Nutting Drive from the south via Gosport Lane, turn right into the school’s parking lot, continue through the Kiss and Ride lane to drop off your student and to exit the school’s parking lot by turning right.  Please do not complete a U-Turn on Nutting Drive at any point.  This is an unsafe maneuver with students walking to school and cars waiting for drop off/pick up.  Thank you for your help with Kiss and Ride.
