All Students to Be Virtual on June 8th Due to Primary Election
Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous learning day (no in-person classes) for students.
Class Placement Parent Input (all grades)
If your child is returning to Forestville next school year, we offer you the opportunity to share any comments you would like regarding class placements. If you know that your family will not be joining us for the 2021-22 school year, please reach out to Ms. Tran at httran2@fcps.edu or 703-404-6000 to let us know.
Our staff will be working on tentative class groupings this spring, with classroom assignments finalized in mid-August. As we make these placements, we consider many factors including individual student information, teacher input, and social relationships. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning interests. Due to the many factors we must consider in creating classroom placements, including the staffing of our teachers, requests for a specific teacher cannot be honored.
If you have information that you believe is pertinent to your child’s placement for next year, please complete this optional form by Monday, May 17th for it to be taken into consideration. There is no need to complete the form if you do not have any information you would like us to consider. Due to the tight timeline before school is out, late submissions cannot be considered. Thank you!
Volunteers Needed Career Day
Forestville’s annual 6th Grade Career Day will take place virtually the morning of Friday, June 4th. We are looking for volunteers willing to speak about their careers in order to make this event memorable for our 6th graders. Presenters can either join the class BBCU for a live presentation or create a video presentation in advance.
Please email Sophie Biggar (sabiggar@fcps.edu) for more information if you are interested in participating or have questions.

The virtual Cooper Prep program will be posted on Cooper’s website. Synchronous, face-to-face sessions will occur at Cooper Middle School on August 11th & 12th. Each day will have two sessions, one offered in morning, and another in the afternoon. The morning and afternoon sessions will be identical. Students should attend one session only.
