Weyanoke SOL Testing Dates

Please mark these dates on your calendar.  Students should bring their FCPS laptop and charger on ALL the testing dates.  All tests will begin at 9:00am.  Please note that testing dates and schedules are different for students coming to school In-Person and those attending online.  If you have questions, please call the school at (703) 813-5400.

Students who attend school IN-PERSON

  • Grade 3 – 5 Math SOL: May 18th
  • Grade 5 Science SOL: May 25th

Students will remain at school for the full day and will use their regular method of transportation.

 

Students who attend school only ONLINE

  • Grade 3 – 5 Math SOL: May 17th
  • Grade 5 Science SOL: May 24th

Students will be offered bus transportation to and from school, or you may bring students at 8:45 to the Kiss and Ride lane.  Once students are finished with the test, there will be two afternoon bus runs at 12:30pm and 3:00pm.  For students who do not take the bus, we will contact you by phone to let you know when they are ready to be picked up from school.  Students should bring their FCPS laptop and charger with them for testing. 


Bus Schedule Adjustments: Check Your Child's Bus Times in ParentVue

As more students attend school in-person, some bus routes may have been adjusted. Please log on to ParentVue to confirm your child's bus pick up and drop off times to ensure they have not changed. If you do not have a SIS ParentVue account, feel free to call the Weyanoke Office at (703) 813-5400 to confirm your child's bus information. Please note that the Here Comes the Bus app requires a ParentVUE account.


Kindergarten Orientation

Do you have a rising kindergartener or know any families in the neighborhood with rising kindergarteners? We will be hosting a virtual orientation for families on Monday, May 17 at 5:00 p.m. During this time you will be able to meet members of our staff and learn a little bit about how you can prepare your child for kindergarten.

All Students to be Virtual on June 8 Due to Democratic Primary Election

Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous  learning day (no in-person classes) for students. All Weyanoke students will log into classes from home by 9:00 am.

Woodchuck Wagon

Woodchuck Wagon Updates

Due to SOL testing and bus availability, our Monday afternoon Woodchuck Wagon will be paused during the month of May.  We will communicate the restart date in an upcoming News You Choose.   

Every Wednesday parents are welcome to come to Door 2 between 11am and 1:30 pm AND from 4pm to 6pm to pick up or return library books or other materials.  


Vaccination Appointments Open for All County Residents

As of April 18, all All individuals who are 16 or older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. 

Visit the U.S. Health and Human Services website for more information or go to the Health Department’s site for specifics on how to make an appointment to get vaccinated.

Help with Water Bills

Need help paying your Fairfax Water bill?  Eligible residents can apply for assistance through the COVID-19 Municipal Utility Relief Program.  Apply today!  Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drinking water and wastewater utilities provide a critical service to the community, especially during a pandemic.  To provide financial relief for customers in need, Fairfax Water is working with Fairfax County, the City of Falls Church, and the City of Fairfax to administer funds received from the Commonwealth of Virginia’s COVID-19 Municipal Utility Relief Program. 

A application is available on Fairfax Water’s website at bit.ly/FWoptions.  To qualify, you must meet certain eligibility requirements, attest that you are experiencing financial hardship due to the coronavirus public health emergency, and submit an application to Fairfax Water.  Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please apply soon. 

For additional assistance, call Fairfax Water’s customer service department to discuss payment options. The call center is available weekdays, 8:00am - 6:00pm at 703.698.5800 (TTY 711).

Rec-PAC Summer 2021

A summer program for grades 1-6

June 28 - August 5

8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Rec-PAC is a six-week, structured recreation program operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority for elementary school children. Participants enjoy activities such as fitness, indoor and outdoor games, team sports, nature, crafts, special events, talent shows and play sessions. Weekly activities incorporate character-building activities. A ratio of at least one staff person to 18 participants is our standard. Our enthusiastic leaders include college students and school teachers who bring a variety of skills.

Safety is our number one priority, and Rec-PAC follows guidelines established by the Fairfax County Health Department, the Virginia Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All activities will follow recommended, pandemic-related health safety protocols such as social distancing, mask wearing and frequent hand washing. Participants will stay with the same group of children and staff throughout the day, and staff will clean surfaces frequently.

The number Rec-PAC locations and the number of children at each site is limited this year due to COVID-related precautions. You must register in advance. No walk-in registrations are allowed at Rec-PAC sites.

Technology Camp Scholarships Available

Salesforce and iD Tech Camps are teaming up to sponsor 300 students ages 10-18 from the DC, Toronto, Atlanta, Indianapolis, San Francisco and Chicago areas to experience the world’s top technology camp. Selected applicants will get to attend one week of Virtual Tech Camps between July 19 - August 6,  2021.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday - 2 hours of live instruction per day + 2 hours of self-paced project development. (multiple time zones available)
