Principal Message

Dear Parents,

Last week FCPS sent out a communication about students returning to school full time next school year; the information can be found here. We are excited to have our students back in the building five days a week. If your child has a documented health or medical need then you can apply for a virtual option for next school year. If your child is currently attending virtually, you will receive a communication from FCPS explaining the approval process and documentation needed to apply to the FCPS Virtual School option. The virtual school option will be limited and is intended to support students for health or medical reasons only. The deadline to submit your application is May 21st.

We need your help at Kiss & Ride as we focus on safety and keeping the flow of traffic running smoothly.  Do not turn left on Marshall Road during arrival or dismissal. Do not make a u-turn on Dellwood Drive. It is important that everyone abides by these guidelines during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for making safety your number one priority.

As we mentioned last week, we will begin class placements for the 2021-2022 school year very soon. If you have information to share about your child that will assist us, please complete this form no later than Wednesday, May 12. Please know that this is a hard deadline.  Any requests received after this date will not be considered.  Please remember that final decisions rest only with our school team. Thank you for being mindful of the process and deadlines.

I hope you and your family will participate in the Runathon this week. This is our main fundraiser for the year and we need your participation and support to fund all the wonderful programs at our school. The Runathon is a healthy and fun way to support family fitness and our school.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Heiges

Principal

PTA

WE ARE ROADRUNNER STRONG!

We need your help to raise $25,000!

The Runathon is Marshall Road’s largest and most popular fundraising event. While this year won’t look like previous years with parents and teachers cheering for our children as they run/walk around the school track, the PTA is thrilled to continue this event!  Our 10th Annual Runathon has a new virtual look that provides students the opportunity to run/walk in their own neighborhoods with their families throughout the week.

Funds raised through the Runathon support student technology, S.T.E.M, cultural arts activities, field trips, classroom technology, teacher professional development, support for families in need, and maintenance of our Runathon track!

The Runathon is This Week - May 10 - 16!

If 250 students raised $10 each, we’d raise $2500…

If 400 students raised $10 each, we’d raise $4000… and so on!

Together we can do this!

This is how you can help meet the fundraising goal of $25,000:

  1. Runathon Website – Make sure to register your student(s) on the *NEW* Runathon website: https://app.memberhub.gives/mres10thrunathon. Click on the ‘Student Center’ button for more information on registering your student, the class leaderboard, and prizes!
  2. Fundraise! – Use this Fundraising Letter to send to all your family and friends asking for support. All donations are due by May 21st.  Be sure to list your child’s name and their teacher’s name for any check or cash donations that are mailed to the school. The amount can then be credited appropriately on the Runathon fundraising page.
  3. T-Shirts – Show your Roadrunner pride!  Wear your shirts while you run/walk in your neighborhoods. Virtual families who have not picked up their Runathon items can stop by the school Tuesday - Friday between 8:45 am - 4:30 pm. If you cannot pick-up your student’s items during these hours, please email us at runathon@marshallroadpta.org and we will find the best way to get these items to you.
  4. Spirit Week –Participate in the week-long Runathon Spirit Week!  There are fun themes planned for each day and two Dining for Dollar events. The Roadrunner will be making an appearance at both D4D events! See the attached D4D fliers.
  5. Fundraise and Win a Chance at Prizes – Here is everything you need to know:
  • For every $50 you collect, you earn a ticket into a drawing for a Nintendo Switch Lite, a drone, gift cards and MORE!!!
  • Everyone that has registered on the Runathon website is eligible to win prizes from the daily raffle the week of May 17-21.
  • The top TEN fundraisers for the school will win: A socially distant lunch with a teacher, staff member, or principal of their choice!!!  Lunch will be provided and followed by a private playtime with fellow top fundraisers.
  • The top class fundraisers for each grade will win: extra recess or extra time for Kahoot/Go Noodle/Drawing!!!
  • The top individual fundraisers for each class will be able to choose a gam to play in PE!

     6.  Share your Successes! – Share pictures or videos of your           family’s run with the MRES community!

  • Post pictures or videos to the MRES PTA Facebook page (use #MRESRunathon) or email them to runathon@marshallroadpta.org
  • Students and teachers can also post videos of their success stories (mileage/laps completed) and messages of support for others on this Flipgrid link: https://flipgrid.com/a3e603c3.
