We also had a visit from Pat Herrity, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors-Springfield District. He presented Rosemary Nevin, TCES Kindergarten Teacher, with a proclamation on behalf of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in recognition Teacher Appreciation Week in Fairfax County. Ms. Nevin accepted the award on behalf of all the teachers in the Fairfax County. Check out @PatHerrity and the pictures below!

Summer Practice Books
Summer Practice Books will be mailed home to FCPS students to provide suggested activities for students to support continued learning. Families who have opted-out of paper mailings from the division will only receive digital copies of the Summer Practice Books. Books will be mailed home to families in early June. Digital versions of books will be emailed to the enrolling parent SIS account in PDF format the week of June 7, 2021.
- Pre-Kindergarten students will receive one interdisciplinary Summer Practice Book.
- Students enrolled in grades K-8 in 2020-21 will receive one Language Arts Practice Book and one Math Practice Book by course enrollment. These books will also include information and guidance about digital tools that can be accessed by students and families to support learning throughout the summer.
- English Learners and Special Education students may receive additional or customized books.

Immunization Requirement Updates
Effective July 1, 2021, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) will require new school entry immunizations. All grade levels will be affected by these additional immunizations.
Required for School Entry:
- A minimum of two doses of Hepatitis (A) vaccine are required: For SY 2021/2022, Kindergarten students must have two doses of Hepatitis A.
- A minimum of two doses of Meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccine are required: For SY 2021/2022, 7th grade students must have one dose and 12th grade students must have one dose.
- A minimum of one dose of Rotavirus (RV) vaccine is required: One dose is required for students less than eight months of age.
Recommended but NOT REQUIRED for School Entry:
- A complete series of Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is recommended. The minimum age for the initial dose is nine years. The first dose is recommended for ALL (boys and girls) students entering 7th grade. The parent or guardian, at their sole discretion, may elect for the student not to receive the HPV series. Parent/guardian HPV opt-out documentation is not required.

We are already preparing for the 2021-2022 school year! We need your help projecting our total enrollment for next school year so we can secure the necessary staffing.

Terra Centre SOL Testing Schedule:
June 8 Primary Election
Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous learning day (no in-person classes) for students.
Library Curbside Pickup Updates
The last two curbside book pickups for the year will be on the following Mondays: May 10 and May 24. The final curbside date of June 7 will be for book returns only. All curbside pickup and return opportunities will be from 2-4pm in the Kiss and Ride lane by door #7. Everyone can bring by book returns even if you are not picking up new books! See you then!

We're really excited about this year's Terra Centre Elementary yearbook. Why? Because you can add your own photos and memories to your personalized copy. All you have to do is create a free account with TreeRing. Your book includes two, FREE pages for you to personalize with your own photos and memories. The personal pages are totally optional, so if you just want the more traditional yearbook, that's okay, too.
Whichever you choose, you can click here to purchase a yearbook for $15.00.
If you are going to use the personal pages, please have them done and buy your copy of the yearbook by May 15, 2021.
This was certainly a year to remember! Please help us memorialize it by uploading photos of your students attending school virtually to the shared photo album. If your student missed the Lifetouch photo day you can email a photo or a team member will take their photo at school. We want all students (virtual & in person) represented! When submitting photos, please label them with name and grade.

By sharing photos to the TreeRing site, emailing or texting them you are giving the TC PTA permission to use the photos in the TC Yearbook.
