SPRING TESTING INFORMATION
We had close to 550 Eagles take the Reading SOL on Monday, May 3rd, in two different sessions. We will be welcoming close to the same number of students on Monday, May 10th, for the Math SOLs.
Some parents/guardians did not reply to our surveys in March and April. If that was you, we assumed you wanted your child to take the SOL. Therefore, if your child did not take the SOL on Monday, May 3rd, you will receive an email with information about when and where to take the make-up Reading SOL.
For students who are learning 100% online this year and either didn’t reply or replied yes to our previous surveys, will be receiving an email next week to explain the process for completing the Virginia Remote Student Progress Test. The VRSPT is not an SOL test but will provide you and your child with information about their current progress in Science 8, Reading 7 and 8, and Math 7 and 8. The state is not offering a student progress test for Algebra or Geometry.
Student Laptop Collection
Students who received an FCPS laptop and charger this year will need to return it to school by Tuesday, June 15th. All laptops and chargers must be returned so that they can be updated for next school year.
- In-person students will leave their laptops and chargers at school before leaving for summer break
- Virtual students may drop off laptops and chargers anytime before or on Monday June 14th and Tuesday June 15th
Any questions, please contact Kelsea Owens (kfowens@fcps.edu)
Five Days in the Fall
FCPS is returning strong for five days a week of in-person learning in the fall. Five days of in-person learning is guaranteed by a new state law that instructs all public schools to provide five days of in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year. Our dedicated teachers have missed their students and are very excited to be back together in the fall, continuing our exception, nationally-recognized education programs.
American Academy of Pediatrics Endorses FCPS’ Five Days of In-Person Learning
Great news! This morning, the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has endorsed FCPS’ model of providing five days of in-person instruction for all children this fall. This endorsement by a highly respected group of pediatricians validates our belief that in-person learning is best for children. The AAP’s Virginia Chapter also believes that virtual instruction should be utilized only when necessary and in consultation with a child’s physician or medical team.
This is incredible news for FCPS in support of our efforts to encourage all students to return for five days of in-person learning this fall. #FCPSReturningStrong

Attendance Items
- Please remember to inform the school if your student is going to be virtual on an in-person day. It is important that we know why they are learning from home so their attendance can be noted correctly. Please use the attendance form or call the attendance line at 703-934-2424.
- If a student needs to miss any class time at all, be it one period or a full day, parents or guardians should always report the specific details of the absence to the LMS attendance line or form.
- Teachers do not have access to mark a student excused for an absence, which is why it is important that parents notify the school in addition to the teacher so your child's attendance record is marked correctly.

"Go Paperless" Report Card Option Reminder
Please sign up for “Paperless Report Cards”. To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless" All parents who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed report cards. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all your associated students, no matter what school level. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the report cards for secondary students and progress reports for ES students.
