Message from the Principal

Dear Ravensworth Families,

May is upon us and we have six great weeks of learning and fun ahead of us. We are working on exciting plans to honor our sixth graders on the evening of Thursday, June 10, 2021. Information will be shared directly with these students/families.

Planning is also in the works for summer school at Ravensworth. We are working to try and staff as many classrooms as possible. As we secure a teacher, we will reach out to families to offer summer school based on student data. Summer Practice Books will be mailed home to FCPS students to provide suggested activities for students to support continued learning.  Families who have opted-out of paper mailings from the division will only receive digital copies of the Summer Practice Books.  Books will be mailed home to families in early June to arrive before the last day of school, June 11, 2021. Students enrolled in grades K-8 in 2020-21 will receive one Language Arts Practice Book and one Math Practice Book.  These books will include information about digital tools that can be accessed by students and families to support learning throughout the summer.

Should you have questions or concerns, please email me at elaspuria@fcps.edu

Thank you for your continued partnership!

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria

Principal

Student Placements for 2021-2022

While it is still early to be thinking ahead to next year, we want to give you information about class placements for the 2021-2022 school-year ahead of time.  The staff at Ravensworth Elementary works hard to place students in an optimal learning situation each year.  If you have some information that would help us make those decisions, please send your comments in writing to Mrs. Aspuria by May 28th.  Please do not list teacher names.  Rather, describe the classroom academic learning environment in which your child learns best.

SCA News

The SCA would like for our students to wear RED to school this Friday to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.  We thought red would represent an apple for the teacher as students are a wonderful gift to our staff.  Please consider wearing RED this Friday to show your teacher you appreciate all the great work they do for you.

Thank you,

SCA

Positivity Project Trait for the Week of May 3: Leadership

Leadership means that you value each member of your group and inspire people to do their best. This can be both formal and informal. It is concerned with getting others to do what needs to be done while maintaining group morale to ensure readiness to act in the future. This character strength’s focus is on the personal qualities of leaders, rather than the practice of leadership. These qualities include the ability to understand others and inspire them toward a common goal, the capacity to mitigate conflict and mold consensus, and the desire to lead other people.

Next Week’s Character Strength:  Other People Mindset
