SOL Prep for FCPSon Devices

Hello,

Thank you to everyone who has completed this task or reached out for support.  If you not yet please help us prep for the upcoming Spring SOLs by having your students follow these steps to ensure the laptop is ready and has received all needed updates.

Students should:

  • Restart your laptop each day.
  • Restart your laptop during Falcon Focus time whether you are in person at school or virtual at home.
  • Follow these directions:

*directions require an @fcpsschools.net account to access.

    • TestNav is the software on your laptop that is used for SOL Testing.  Version 1.9.7 is required for this year’s testing.  These directions will help you determine which version of TestNav is installed on your laptop.

      1. While connected to the FCPS network, click on the Health Icon on your desktop.
        1. TestNav version will be listed under Installed Applications
        2. Confirm TestNav version is 1.9.7.0

No Health Icon? Follow these steps:

      1. Click in the Windows search box located in the lower left of the screen.  Type in Programs
      2. In the search results click on the Add or remove programs icon.
      3. On the window that comes up scroll down to TestNav and click on it once.  The version listed should say 1.9.7.0 or 1.9.7
      4. f the TestNav version listed is 1.9.7.0 or 1.9.7 you are ready for SOL testing.  Please continue to restart your laptop on a frequent basis as directed to make sure any other needed updates are installed on your laptop.
      5. If the TestNav version listed is not 1.9.7.0 or 1.9.7 an update needs to be installed on your laptop prior to SOL Testing.

Not working?

Follow these steps if you are unable to follow the directions above to resolve the most common issues.

  • If you are unable to access settings FCPS has put out an update to address access to settings.  It will require you to take your laptop to Frost parking lot or any FCPS site at any time and connect to the FCPS network for a few minutes and then restart the computer. After you login again, you should see a new background with the One Frost logo and this means you have received the update and will have access to all the settings, etc.  It may require up to 3 restarts for all updates to be applied.
  • If you don’t see TestNav in the Software Center restart your computer up to 5 times. If it still doesn’t appear, bring the computer to the Frost parking lot or any FCPS site at any time and connect to the FCPS network for a few minutes and then restart the computer. After you login again, you should see a new background with the One Frost logo and this means you have received the update and will have access to all the settings, etc. It may require up to 3 restarts for all updates to be applied.

Student Support Opportunities

The tech team will be available this week during Falcon Focus to meet with students with this process in room 415.  Virtual students are welcome to meet someone in the front lobby for support during this time as well.

If you cannot update TestNav or are uncomfortable with the directions please submit an Online Support Request.  We will contact you with the next steps.
