Bottles of Water

Our students are able to get water throughout the day by filling up their own personal water bottle at our water filling stations.  It has been brought to our attention that sometimes students forget to bring their water bottles to school.  As a result, they are left without water since all water fountains are closed off this year due to COVID.  As a result, we will have bottles of water available to students in the main office, student services, and the security office.  Students just need to ask for a bottle of water.  This is free to all students.

Immunizations

There is a new immunization requirement for rising 12th graders for the 2021-2022 school year.  Effective July 1, 2021 all students entering twelfth grade will be required to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) administered at age 16 or older, and prior to the beginning of school.  Twelfth grade students cannot begin school in August without proper Meningococcal documentation.

Please provide one of the following documents to McLean High School as soon as possible:

  • An updated immunization record showing that the student has received the Meningococcal vaccine at age 16 or older.
  • A note on a healthcare provider’s letterhead stating the date the Meningococcal vaccine was given at age 16 or older.
  • A healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption.
  • A notarized Religious Exemption Form which is available online at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/health_medical/certificate_religious_exemption.pdf

Immunizations are available from your student's healthcare provider or the Fairfax County Health Department. The Health Department clinic locations and hours are available online at: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/immunization/school or by calling 703-246-2411.

Please contact Mary Bartenfeld at 703-714-5722 if you have any questions.

Volunteers Needed - ANGP

The MHS PTSA needs you to volunteer for the Class of 2021 Graduation Party, Pandemic Style!

The MHS PTSA is planning to host a Graduation Party for our fabulous senior Class of 2021! We hope to host the party on the evening of Wednesday, June 2nd, if we can find enough volunteers to pull it together.

  • We need Parent Volunteers to help us plan activities to make this special event happen.
  • We will also need Parent Volunteers on the day of the event to help set up, clean up, and chaperone.

In past years, parents of non-seniors (Junior Parents especially) help out to "pay it forward".  We cannot host this event without our community and volunteers!  Let's make this unprecedented year end on a high note for our McAwesome Seniors!!

If you are able to help, please contact Mara Conners and Monika Sibert at  GraduationParty@mcleanptsa.org TODAY!

Thank you in advance for helping make the event a success!

Cheers to the Class of 2021!

Parent University for Class of 2022

McLean Student Services will host our final Parent University session of the school year on Friday, May 7 at 11:30 AM. This event will be virtual. The Parent to Parent Panel will consist of parents of current seniors who will explain the college application process from their perspective. Hear from the most recent experts about what worked and what didn’t work for their child and family. Save the date. We will send an email and link to Class of 2022 parents closer to the event.

Summer Credit Recovery

This summer, McLean High School will be hosting credit recovery for our students who receive a final grade of No Mark (NM). NM is being used this year in lieu of an F to limit the impact of virtual learning on a student’s grade point average. However, students will still need to recover the course credit. McLean High School will be hosting our students and students from Oakton High School and Langley High School. By combining sites, we hope to be able to offer all courses our students would need.

McLean counselors will soon be reaching out to families of students who may need to sign up for credit recovery this summer. They will have additional information on how best to sign up for the credit recovery program.
