Testing season is here! Please remind your students to restart their computers at least once a week. Necessary updates are automatically installed when devices are restarted, and it can take several minutes for the updates to complete. If computers are not restarted regularly, it can cause complications during testing.
We will have two catch up days for students this month: May 11 and May 14. Students will have the opportunity to complete previously-assigned work, missed assignments or assessments, and previously-assigned longer term assignments that will not have reached the due date. There is no new instruction on either of these days.
Attendance is taken; teachers will be available during the regularly-scheduled class period to support any student who may need additional help.
Seniors and their families were notified this week that, with the lifting of some social distancing restrictions by Governor Northam, we are able to use our own Luke Fennell Stadium here at EHS to hold our commencement exercises. Families of seniors will continue to get updates and information as it becomes available. The date and time for graduation remains the same: Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00 AM.
Edison’s Food Pantry is up and running. If you need assistance with food items or toiletries, please complete this google form: Food Pantry Form (en español: Spanish Form). A member of Student Services will follow up with you to arrange a pick-up time. If you have any questions, please contact Justin Hargrove at jahargrove@fcps.edu |

The Edison HS PTSA is pleased to offer four $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from the Class of 2021. The intent in awarding a PTSA scholarship is to recognize Thomas Edison High School students who have demonstrated good citizenship through volunteer service in the school and community, or academic achievement through individual determination. The scholarship is intended to support continuation of their education at a two- or four-year college, university or trade school. The deadline for this scholarship application is May 1st, 2021.
Scholarship Criteria:
In order to apply for the FCCPTA Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant’s GPA must be at least 2.8. *Transcripts are not required. The PTSA will contact student counselors to validate GPAs.
- The scholarship money must be used in the academic year following graduation from high school, at a two- or four-year college, university, or trade school. Payment will be made to the institution, not individuals.
- The applicant must submit a 200 – 300-word short essay on two topics from the application form.
