West Potomac High School Weekly News

It’s May Wolverines!

It has been a great week with the official start to spring sports, some nice weather, and construction fully underway.  Just a few short reminders.

Attendance Codes Clarification

  • SYC:  Used ONLY by the attendance office to indicate that the parent/guardian has called in an in-person student’s physical absence while attending classes virtually.

  • SYV:   Used ONLY by teachers to indicate that a in-person student was absent physically but present virtually without prior notification.

  • CUT:  Used for in-person and virtual students who miss a significant portion of class.

Techers Notify parent/guardian and student of mark and reason for it.

  • EXT/UNT:  Used ONLY by the attendance office for in-person students checking in to school late.

Graduation Update

We have some great news regarding changes for our Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony.  The Governor has changed the capacity for outside facilities to 50%.  That is a significant increase for our stadium which will now allow for a single graduation ceremony AT WEST POTOMAC.  We will graduate our seniors from home on June 3rd at 10 am (this is a time change).  Senior families will receive a separate email with additional details, so please watch out for that today.

EOY Grading Options

On Wednesday Mr. McMahon hosted an EOY Grading Options townhall.  Below are the links to the recording and slide deck.  If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s counselor.
