DRIVER’S ED NEWS

West Springfield High School has just been approved to offer the

DMV Learner’s Permit Test

 

When: Mondays @ 12pm and Thursdays @ 3:15pm- specific dates below

Where: Room 2225

Cost: $15

Dates: additional dates may be added upon school approval

  • May 6, 10, 13, 24, and 27
  • June 3, 7, (10 @ 11:30am)

Who can take the test: Students MUST be 15 years and 6 months old by the day of the test

  • This test is for Fairfax County Public School students ONLY (FCPS ID is required). 
  • If you have had 2 unsuccessful attempts at passing this test, then you are required to test at the DMV for your 3rd attempt.

 

Please read the instructions below carefully as you must sign up in 2 different places…

 

How to Register:

  1. Visit FCPS ACE and sign up for a specific date- aceclasses.fcps.edu
  2. Once registered on the FCPS ACE site, you must also register with the DMV at https://vadmvexam.com/AT_Remote/ApplicantPortal/ApplicantPortal.aspx in order to test. This link will also be provided on your confirmation email from ACE.  
    • DMV registration must be done at least 4 hours before the test start time. Faliure to register with the DMV will result in not being able to test since they issue the secure testing codes to FCPS proctors. 

 

The following are required to the take the test- bring them with you on your test day:

  • A picture ID to verify identity. If the student does not have a picture ID, take a picture, write the student's full legal name under the picture, and have a teacher sign to verify the student's identity.  You may also show your photo from SIS.
  • Earbuds/headphones to listen to directions and test audio.Note the procedure to enter the building for Monday testing.

  • Arrive at 11:50am and lineup at Door 5 (behind the school by the stadium). 
  • Testing proctor will meet students and escort them to Room 2225 at noon. 
  • Please do not be late as you may not be able to gain access to the school.

Final PSTD offering of the school year will be on May 20 at 6pm. 

Any current 10th grader that did not complete this requirement must attend in order to earn your District 8 (pink) card.  If you do not attend this school year, you will have to pay to take the session beginning in June.  Contact your PE teacher if you have questions.
