Class Assignments for 2021-22

While there’s still plenty of action left in 2020-2021, we have already begun planning for the 2021-22 school year.  One of the most important aspects in setting up our students for academic and social-emotional success is his/her homeroom class assignment. Making the most effective match with teacher and classmates is a very thoughtful, careful process that involves many different criteria. If you would like Mr. Elson and Dr. Ritter to consider any specific information about your child that school staff may not know, particularly regarding learning style and classroom environment, please submit via email to Sam Elson and Christine Ritter by Friday, May 7.

Because you are the expert(s) on your child, we ask that you keep your information centered on your child and the type of learning environment you feel would be the most productive for him/her. Of course, with or without a letter, each child’s strengths and needs are considered in the lengthy and complex process of developing class assignments. With this in mind, please refrain from requesting a specific teacher by name.

Student Intentions 2021-22

Student Intention Forms for 2021-22

We need your help in projecting our total enrollment for the next school year.  For families NOT returning to Kings Glen or Lake Braddock for 7th Grade in the fall of 2021-22, please complete and return the Student’s Intention for the Next School Year form by May 14.

Talent Show

Kings Glen Virtual Talent Show Tuesday, June 8

Deadline to Register:  Friday, May 14

We have so many talented and hardworking Kings Glen Gators, whether they be musicians, dancers, writers, entertainers, or creators, so we are happy to announce a way for all of us to showcase and celebrate those talents!

Our Virtual Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, a virtual asynchronous learning day for all students. Talent show acts will be filmed ahead of time and broadcast live.

Kings Glen students from all grades can participate.  To ensure that any interested Gators have a chance to be seen, we limit participation to one solo act (by yourself) plus participation in one group act (if filming with other Gators).  All acts and music must be school-appropriate, limited to 2 minutes in length, and include only students currently attending Kings Glen ES.

(Register Here to Reserve Your Slot - Deadline Friday, May 14) .

We can't wait to see what our Gators have in store for us this year!  Please contact Ms. Gaines or Ms. Keaney with any questions.

Need more sleep

Success Starts with Sleep!!

Please ensure that your child is rested and ready to learn. For our in-person learners, their daily schedule has changed, and we are finding that some students are falling asleep in class. Sleep deprivation leads to irritability, frustration, and difficulty paying attention. Without enough sleep, the smallest amount of stress can seem like a mountain instead of a hill.

How can you help? View flyer to see what doctors recommend for your child.

Summer Opportunity for the Arts

Fairfax County offers a summer opportunity for students to engage in all sorts of fine arts activities in their summer program (IFTA: Institute for the Arts)  - art, dance, music, movement, etc.
