Lake Braddock Debate Team News
Even though we took no medals this year, it was still a great day for our team at the VHSL State Debate Tournament. 9th Graders Aidan Chomicki and Caley Nee made it out of preliminary rounds in Student Congress to the Final Round - it is very rare for 9th graders to achieve this. Caley finished 8th over all and Aidan 11th overall. I see great things ahead for them! In Lincoln Douglas Debate, Sean Burdett (11th) placed 7th. 9th Grader Anwesha "Trina" Choudhury and 10th Grader Caleb Sharman also competed for us in Student Congress and learned much.
We had the youngest team in Class 6 at the tournament and everyone will be back next year!

Spectators
New numbers for spectators beginning April 1. Indoor events will allow 100 fans and outdoor events up to 500.
FCPS has been given the go ahead to allow limited spectators at indoor and outdoor events held on FCPS campuses. Per the Governor's mandate, spectators at indoor events are limited to 25 spectators and outdoor athletic events to 250 spectators per contest. Below outlines the process we will use to institute this. A must read, should you have the opportunity to attend an event.
- Per FCPS, spectator attendance has been permitted for ALL levels (Freshman, JV, Varsity) for home and away contests. Attendance will be limited to 100 spectators for indoor sporting events and 500 for outdoor sporting events (250 spectators for the home team and 250 spectators for the visiting team) - $5 entry fee for all events, please bring exact change.
General Guidelines
Per the Fairfax County Park Authority, there will be no spectators allowed at their outdoor facilities for Golf and Cross County.
-
Indoor sport spectators are asked to arrive at the school, no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. We cannot allow entrance into the gym until all previous game/event spectators have exited. If the weather isn't cooperative, you may want to wait in your cars.
-
Outdoor sport spectators are asked to arrive at the field, no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Entry time to the facility will last one hour.
- As you enter the facility, you will be required to check-in and answer a set of Covid-19 screening questions.
- Spectators will be directed to a specific section of the facility. There will be limited concessions available at outdoor events. Outside food and drink is prohibited (with the exception of water).
- All spectators must wear masks at all times! Spectators will also be expected to practice safe social distancing while on the school grounds. You may sit with members of your household and you must be six feet from spectators that are not living within your household.
- At the conclusion of the game, spectators will need to exit the facility as directed immediately. This is to ensure that we can have a smooth transition between games and allow staff to follow FCPS and VHSL protocols.
Although we understand that this doesn't get us back to normal and allow for everyone who wants to attend an event to do so, we hope this is a step in that direction. We remind everyone that SPORTSMANSHIP is an expectation of those attending an event at Lake Braddock Secondary School. As members of Patriot District, Occoquan Region and the Virginia High School League we have high standards of sportsmanship is what we expect from those in attendance towards the players, fans and officials. We appreciate your positive support!
