DEA National Drug Take Back Day:  April 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

West Potomac Pyramid Community - with the increase in overdose risks and abuse of substances found easily in the home, this resource is more important than ever.  Unused or expired medications can be safely dropped off at the locations listed below or click on link for additional locations. Accepted items: prescription and non-prescription pills, e-cigarettes and vaping devices with batteries removed, small liquid packs/pods for e-cigarettes and vaping devices, prescription ointments, and medications for pets. Not accepted: illegal drugs, pressurized canisters [inhalers/aerosol cans], needles, large sources of liquids, non-prescription ointments and lotions.)

Virtual Career Exploration Fair:

Fairfax County Public Schools high school students are invited to participate in the 2021 Virtual Career Exploration Fair, taking place now through Friday, April 30. This completely virtual event will include synchronous (live) and asynchronous (recorded) sessions and workshops. the event will offer a connection to more than 100 local industry professionals from in-demand career fields. Students will also be able to attend college- and career-ready workshops and information sessions. Registration is available online.

NOVA JumpStart Summer Program - Free Classes for Graduating Seniors

This summer, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will offer a selection of online, tuition-free classes to Northern Virginia high school graduating seniors. Students must meet placement requirements and understand there may be textbooks or other material fees associated with courses. Since these classes are all online, students will need access to a computer and the internet. Students may take a maximum of two JumpStart courses. Important dates:

  • JumpStart applications are now open and will close April 30.
  • Classes will run from June 1 until August 9.

Details about the JumpStart Summer Program, including placement requirements and material fees, are available online.

Need Flexibility? SELF-DIRECTED ONLINE CLASSES AVAILABLE

The test prep program is offering self-directed online test prep created by Applerouth. This is an excellent course that covers all the content offered through the usual group class as well as tips and strategies for the official tests. Mock test results provide a solid study guide. Applerouth tutors are available to assist self-directed students with any questions during the course. One mock test is included in the self-directed class. Class licenses expire 7/31/21. Register at PTSA's MemberHub Store.
