Mustang Message - May 9, 2021

Thank you Teachers!

Dear Bren Mar Park Families,

Thank you for helping us celebrate our teachers and staff this week during Teacher Appreciate Week!  The kind words and special treats were very much appreciated.

Take care,

Mrs. Williams

Fall Return to 5 Days Per Week

Our staff is so excited to offer 5 days of in-person instruction to all students this fall!  Our administrative team, teachers, and support staff are committed to continuing to provide a safe place for your students to learn in our school.

We understand that there may be unique and personal reasons for students to remain virtual.  There will be an opportunity for virtual enrollment this fall, however it will be very limited. Should you find yourself in this situation, please understand that there is an application process, and eligibility will be determined based on a health/medical certification.

Please contact the front office if you have any questions.

International Night

Join us as we celebrate the amazing diversity of Bren Mar Park at this year’s (virtual) International Night!  Your family can share many things from your country/culture: a musical performance, dance, reading a poem in your language, modeling some beautiful clothing, showing some delicious foods, or talking about art/artifacts.

If your family would like to participate, please use this flipgrid link for your performance: https://flipgrid.com/1b3a4b1d

Performances will be shared the night of the event.

PTA is Seeking Volunteers for Next School Year

It's time to elect new PTA officers for the 2021-2022 school year and we are in need of new volunteers to step up to serve on the PTA. To have a PTA requires a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer at the minimum but we know that additional hands are needed for a thriving, active PTA!

Please nominate yourself or someone using the PTA Executive Board Nomination Form Nominating someone does not mean they automatically get put on the ballot for elections- it means they will be aware that someone (not specific) nominated them and asking if they would be interesting and willing to be put on the electronic ballot. Executive Board positions votes will be completed and tallied during our May 11th General PTA meeting.

If you are interested and would like more information to volunteer or to nominate someone, please reach out to the Bren Mar Park PTA at  bmp.pta@gmail.com or call Barbara Alston at (314) 922-1455.

Yearbook & School Photos This Year

Due to the delayed start of in-person school, and based on feedback around the concern that many of our families have had about coming into the school building, Bren Mar Park will not have a yearbook for this school year.  Instead, staff will create and develop a memory activity or product with and for the students in their grade levels.  Photos will be made available to classroom communities.

2021-22 Fall school pictures are scheduled for early in September.

Specialist Spotlight

Spotlight on Counseling

We hope you are able to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having this Spring.  It has been so nice to be able to see many of our students enjoying the nice weather during recess.  We have been busy with transitioning students into the building as well as maintaining relationships with those online.  Students have been learning about careers and exploring interests.  It has been neat hearing what they want to do when they grow up and helping them tie their interests into a career choice.  It’s never too early to discuss career interests with your children!  We are also working on transitioning our 5th graders to middle school.  Time flies and it is hard to believe that those students who were 1st graders when I first started at BMP are now moving on to middle school!  As we approach the final 6 weeks of school, we are reminding students to finish strong.  Please join us in encouraging our students to do their very best all the way up until the final day!
