Dismissal
If you have permanent dismissal change for your child, please complete the Primary Dismissal Form. This form will tell us how your child will go home each day they are in-person at Hayfield Elementary. It is very important that we know how to dismiss your child. Parents should review their child’s bus route assignments using their SIS ParentVue account. The bus routes are listed under Student Information in SIS ParentVue.
We are not making temporary dismissal changes this school year except in emergency situations.
With an increased number of students returning to in-person instruction, we are experiencing many more cars at our kiss-n-ride. If your student is a walker or a bus rider, we encourage families to take advantage of these travel methods. We anticipate another increase to kiss-n-ride next week and appreciate your patience.

News from the Library
The Book Fair is here! The Spring Book Fair is virtual like the one that was held in the fall. It runs from April 16th- 29th. For more information on how to order books, please click here: https://www.smore.com/b0cdk.
Book Overdue notices were emailed home within the past week. Some of the books on the list may have been from last school year (2019-2020). We are trying to recover as many of these books as possible. We aren’t charging any lost book fees, but we are asking that an effort be made to locate and return the books. There is a bin set up outside the school Tuesday- Friday 8:30am-3:30pm for book return if your child is 100% virtual and has a book to return. In-person students may bring the books to school with them for return. You will receive one more notice at the end of the year for any books that remain overdue. After that, any books from last year will be removed from the student’s account. Thanks for your help with this!
Curbside book pickup is still being run for the students who are 100% virtual! For more information on how to take advantage of this opportunity please click here: https://www.smore.com/gzxm8.

Military Family Information Sessions
PEATC has some exciting virtual training opportunities for our military families who have students with disabilities coming up over the next several weeks. Below is the information about each.
Training Events:
In collaboration with VDOE, PEATC is offering training events for both professionals and parents again this year. As much as we would like to see everyone, VDOE is requiring that these events be virtual. It will be recorded presentations that are self-paced, but we are offering one live session for each event. Please see the attached flyers for details, or you can register using the links below:
-
On the Front Lines ( for professionals including EFM and SLOs, Purple Star School POCs, MFLCs and ombudsmen, formerly EFM/SLO training) – two opportunities to participate:
- July 8-15, 2021; Live event on July 13th at 12:00 p.m. Registration: https://efmpslojuly2021.eventbrite.com
-
In the Trenches (for service members, parents, families, and caregivers only, formerly Squared Away) – two opportunities to participate:
- July 17-25, 2021; Live event on July 22nd at 7:00 p.m., Registration: https://inthetrenchesjuly2021.eventbrite.com
Sometimes military networks don’t like our registration links or will block Eventbrite links, so you may need to try registering from a home network and/or computer. If you have any trouble accessing these links or registering, please call our office at (703) 923-0010 and speak with our administrative assistant, Andersen Guske. He will be able to take all the necessary information to complete the registration for you.

Registration for School Year 2021-2022
Children residing in our boundaries who will turn 5 years old on or before September 30, 2020, as well as students in grades 1-6 transferring from Private/Home Schools or moving into our boundaries prior to the start of the new school year must select an appointment to register. All information pertaining to registration, including eligibility and forms is outlined in the Sign-up Genius where the appointment selection and instructions for electronically submitting registrations is available. You can find the link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050F49ACA62AA46-20212022.
We are currently not conducting in-person registrations. (Original, signed forms/documents will need to be presented in-person to finalize enrollment and create student files. Our registrar will notify you when plans have been made for collection of hard copies.)
Please spread the word to neighbors to whom this may pertain. While you are guaranteed enrollment (as long as you physically reside in our boundaries and meet the age requirements) we prefer you register sooner rather than later to ensure we are adequately staffed. You must have all of the documents/forms to be enrolled. If your child’s most recent health physical was completed prior to August 26, 2020, you will need to provide a more current physical once completed.
