WSES Virtual PTA Meeting!

Please join us here tonight, Wednesday, April 21st, for our virtual PTA membership meeting.
- The WSES PTA meeting is a membership organization open to ALL WSES families and staff.
- We meet once a month to learn about what is happening at WSES, determine projects to implement, discuss opportunities, and work together on programs and activities that support our children's educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement.
April PTA Meeting
Find out the latest surrounding our in-person learners, concurrent instruction, building improvements, upcoming student activities, and teacher support at the April PTA meeting. Please click here to virtually join the WSES PTA meeting on April 21st, at 7–8 p.m.
The PTA will be discussing school supply vendors for the fall school supply sale. If you have any contracts for vendors you would like the PTA to consider, please email them to president@willowspringspta.net by April 17th.

Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts is excited to welcome new families into forming and existing troops in the Willow Springs ES area! If you have a girl attending kindergarten this fall, join Membership Specialist Elizabeth Wood at Braddock Park on Sunday, April 25, to begin troop formation. RSVP at bit.ly/girlscouts-54-14 to make sure there are enough supplies for each girl. If you have questions about Girl Scouts in your area for girls K-12, please contact Elizabeth at ewood@gscnc.org or 703.372.4344.
Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family. In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and life. Willow Springs Cub Scouts participate in various fun activities, from camping to pinewood derby car racing to volunteering to help the community.

PTA Bylaws
The PTA has to update our bylaws every five years, and this is our magical year. The PTA has posted the updated bylaws here for review.
We will be voting on the posted bylaws at the April PTA meeting on April 21st, at 7 p.m. The PTA needs 35 members to approve the proposed bylaws. If you cannot attend the meeting, you can vote here. If you have any comments or suggestions, please forward them to Jill Mossman, the PTA President.
PTA Board Elections
We will hold the WSES PTA Board election vote at the June PTA meeting. In the meantime, the PTA must form a three-member committee to nominate people for the Board for 2021-2022. This is an excellent opportunity to help support the local community and shape the direction of the PTA. The election committee will help identify people to help fill PTA Executive Board positions for next year. If you are interested in being on the committee or filling one of these positions, please contact president@willowspringspta.net. The nominating committee will be formally finalized at the April PTA meeting.
PTA Club Spotlight: Jump Rope Club
WS Club Spotlight on Jump Rope Club: The Jump Rope Club hasn't let a little thing like a pandemic slow them down. This club of K-6 graders has been learning and practicing trick jump rope skills this whole time! PTA April Restaurant Night: El Fresco in Centreville April 22nd
Leave the kitchen and join the PTA for April’s restaurant night at El Fresco in Centreville. PTA Virtual Trivia Night
The PTA will be sponsoring a *FREE* Virtual Trivia Night on May 20th from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. Test your knowledge against your peers in this fun, interactive event. Zoom link to come soon. Hope to see you there!

Box Tops for Education
Now that students are returning to school, the PTA resumes collecting Box Tops for Education. Please bring in any Box Tops or recent receipts you’ve collected over the pandemic and give them to your teacher. You could also download the app and scan your receipt, and the school will automatically be credited. The PTA has raised almost $200 so far through Box Tops, which we can use to fund things like virtual trivia night.
