McLeadership Interest Meeting

Do you want to be a Big Mac for the 2021 – 2022 school year? If you are interested in becoming a Big Mac in the McLeadership program and serving as a positive role model and mentor to our Freshmen and new students, there will be an interest meeting on Wednesday, April 14th, at 3:30pm. We will be using BBCU and the link is below. The session will be recorded.

FCPS Instructional Calendar

FCPS School Board recently approved the 21-22 school year calendar.  The new calendar includes several religious observance days.  We will have the first of those days starting this week.  On these days teachers are directed to refrain from new graded assignments or activities; tests, quizzes, or other assignments on the following dates based on the new approved 21-22SY calendar that is in effect NOW:

April 13 - 1st day of Ramadan

April 27 - Theravada New Year

April 30 - Orthodox Good Friday

May 13 - Eid al-Fitr


Counselors’ Corner NEW!!

The next round of Counselors’ Corner meetings by grade level is listed below. The time for these lessons will be from 9:55-10:20am.  A reminder will be sent to student emails and posted in the grade level Google Classroom the week of, with information on how to access this session through BBCU. This session will provide tools that support students’ Emotional Intelligence growth and resources to learn more. Feel free to reach out to your school counselor with any questions!

Join the Fairfax County Health Department and the Fairfax County Public Schools Parent Resource Center for important updates about COVID-19 and the vaccines that have been developed to help prevent disease.

FCPS Special Education Conference 2021

The 16th Annual Special Education Conference will be held virtually on Saturday, April 17, 2021. The conference will include a combination of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (recorded) sessions supporting our conference's theme: The time for inclusion is now.

Parents and community members will be able to register online. In addition, FCPS educators, administrators, and preservice teachers will be able to register online and earn recertification points for attending the conference.

Conference Highlights:

  • Guest speakers and FCPS staff presentations
  • A Student Strands for youth ages 14-22
  • Sibshops for students in grades 7-12
  • An Exhibit Hall with FCPS and community resources
  • Inclusive Schools Presentations

Each year our conference draws an audience of parents, educators, administrators, preservice teachers, and community members eager to hear the latest research, strategies, and trends in the education of students with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities.

Encouraging Positive Behaviors at Home Series: Minimizing Prompts and Maximizing Your Child’s Independence

  • Parents/guardians will be provided an overview of prompting and self-monitoring
  • Parents/guardians will review general strategies to increase student independence with specific tasks such as completing homework, doing chores, etc.

Thursday April 22, 2021, 10 - 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Online Attendance Form

Parents can now report a student absence by using our online attendance form at https://mcleanhs.fcps.edu/about/attendance-form.  The attendance phone line will also be available at 703-714-5725. 


Library News:  Curbside Pickup for library books Monday - Friday

Students will be able to pick up books they have put on hold through the online catalog Monday to Friday 9:00-2:00 except holidays.   Once a student places a hold, Mrs. Kong will email the student for a Curbside Pickup appointment.  To place a hold a student will login to the catalog using their FCPS login credentials. When a book is available, the student will see the book, and be able to click the Hold button.

A masked library staff member will take the book(s) to the student’s car at the front entrance of the school (Door #1).  All occupant of the car must wear a mask. The student’s Name and Student ID should be on a sheet of paper and placed on the passenger’s side dashboard.  The library staff member will place the book(s) either in the trunk or the back seat.


Club Participation Information

  1. Go to Clubs-and-organizations for a list of all of our clubs.
  2. Each club will have a Google Classroom link
  3. If you are interested in that club, click on the Google Classroom Link to join the club classroom
  4. In the classroom, there will be a link to join club meetings during Highlander Flex Time(Only FCPS students can enter)
  5. 9:45am-10:25am- Clubs that start with the letter A-L

    10:25am-11:05am- Clubs that start with the letter M-Z

  6. If the Club says “Inactive” that means we have the club, but currently do not have a sponsor. If a student is interested in activating the club a teacher sponsor would need to be identified.

McLean HS Tech Support for Students

If you are experiencing issues with your FCPS issued laptop, please use the link below to enter your information.  The tech support team will then get back to you as soon as possible.

We will continue to support students remotely as much as possible. If a computer has been identified as needing hands-on repair, we will schedule an appointment for you to come to the school to exchange it.  

Description:  This form should be filled out by a student if they are experiencing issues with their FCPSOn laptop.
