Dear Stenwood Families,
It has been a busy week in the Stinger hive as we prepared for many operational changes. We announced earlier this week that we have worked through the logistics to provide all current in-person students with four days/week of in-person instruction starting April 20th. This was no small feat and required a tremendous amount of planning, flexibility, and creativity from our staff. If your child is currently learning in-person, they might share with you that they are eating lunch or having recess in different locations or have other minor adjustments to their schedule and/or usual daily routines. Our teachers and staff will work with your child to adjust to any necessary changes in routines that had to occur to make this possible.
At the forefront of our minds throughout the transition was limiting the changes and impacts on our virtual learners. One change that we could not avoid is the consolidation of our virtual lunch bunches to include grade level clusters within the younger grades. Here is the updated schedule for Virtual Lunch Bunches:
K - 2nd Grade: Tuesday, 11:40 - 12:10 with Mrs. Herendeen
3rd Grade/ 4th Grade: Wednesday, 12:05 - 12:35 with Mrs. Herendeen
5th Grade: Thursday, 11:55 - 12:25 with Ms. Campbell
6th Grade: Friday, 11:55 - 12:25 with Mrs. Herendeen
Students in grades K - 4 may need to access their lunch bunch through a new link, so please be on the lookout for that information to be shared.
Our SOL testing schedule for students in Grades 3 - 6 has also been adjusted from what was previously communicated as a result of our operational changes. Virtual students will no longer be testing on Mondays, but will participate in testing at the school during the week in our school library. Please read the details in the forthcoming SOL Update eNotify. All participating 3rd - 6th grade families should mark their calendars with the finalized SOL dates for the school year:

Positivity Project:
Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence
|
|
This week, we are focusing on the Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence. You notice and value the world’s beauty and people’s skills. You don’t take things for granted.
“Better to be blind and see with your heart than to have two good eyes and see nothing.”
~Helen Keller

Questions you might enjoy talking about:
- What do you think it means to see with your heart?
- Why do you think we fail to notice the beauty around us?
- What can you do to start noticing that beauty?
Curbside Library Checkout
Stingers can now go to Destiny Discover, the library catalog, and put books on hold!
Please note that the catalog may give you a pop-up message saying the book is ready – do not believe it! Only come to the school AFTER you receive an email from us letting you know the items are ready and what time you’ll be able to pick them up. Be sure to mark your calendar because after one week, the books will be returned to the library so other students may enjoy them.
Click here for directions on how to put books on hold.
Need to return books? You may return library books on Mondays from 2:30-3:30PM. Drop off location will be in the Kiss-n-Ride loop in the back of the school. As always, please contact Mrs. Cole, our librarian, if you have any questions.
