SPOTLIGHT ON LITERACY

The Silverbrook Library Team is celebrating National Poetry Month by spotlighting three outstanding poetry books from our collection. It is important for all of us to have poetry in our lives. The poems in these books can make us laugh, fill us with wonder, help us understand someone else’s feelings or move us to tears.  Silverbrook families might enjoy reading poems from our featured poetry books. Haiku meets riddles or “riddle-ku” as author Laura Purdie Salas describes her poems. The poems are organized by season and describe such things as earthworms, umbrellas, and snow angels. Children try to guess what each haiku is describing. It is entertaining to both young and older readers.
