Graduation Information

2021

High school principals received confirmation about graduation dates, times, and locations several days ago.  The school system had to consider factors such as the Governor’s capacity guidelines for graduations and then determine venue options based on school locations.  All graduations will be held outdoors, so we hope for great weather.

Edison High School’s Class of 2021 graduation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 9:00 AM.  The location will be Hayfield Secondary School Stadium.  (Please note the time change to 9:00 AM.)

Rain date:  Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 9:00 AM – Hayfield Secondary School Stadium

We will continually update graduation information to our senior families as it becomes available.

Are you Moving?

If your family will be moving and your student will not be attending Edison for the 2021-2022 school year, please fill out a withdrawal form (click here:   Withdrawal Form ) and return it as soon as possible to Krystal Brooks, registrar, at klbrooks@fcps.edu.  Ms. Brooks can also provide you with any needed documents to enroll at your student’s new school.  Please note, that if your student has a school laptop, it must returned to Edison prior to the withdrawal at the end of the school year.

Course Selection Review

Next Thursday, April 15, 2021, is the deadline to make changes to courses for the 2021-21 school year. Please review the current list using SIS Parent VUE and Student VUE accounts. To access the list, log into your account and click on the tab labeled “course requests.

Please note, decisions for Edison Academy and West Potomac Academy have been made. If your student has been denied or placed on a waiting list, an additional elective course will need to be added.

Contact your student’s counselor with any questions or concerns.

April is Month of the Military-Connected Child

Throughout the month of April, Edison Student Ambassadors, with the support of our student leadership and administration, are providing opportunities and information to honor and give thanks to our military-connected students!

Purple Up! Each Friday of the month, everyone is encouraged to wear something purple. Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine red, and Coast Guard, Air Force and Navy blue.

Schoology and Friday broadcast announcements will be used to share some related facts and student videos:

momc
  • On average, children in military families move six to nine times during a school career. That’s about three times more frequently than non-military families.
  • Virginia has the third highest number of active duty service members.
  • While over 14,000 military-connected students attend Fairfax County Public Schools, Edison is proud to have over 100 military-connected students.  We appreciate the unique perspectives they bring to our school along with demonstrated strength and resilience.

April 21st has been designated as Purple Up Day! across the entire FCPS community, and everyone is encouraged to Purple Up in support of our military-connected students.  Please post your pictures and tag #PurpleUpFCPS, #PurpleUpVirginia.
