Recognition

On Saturday, the Herndon Cross Country team participated in the races at Bull Run Regional Park.  Gilliam Bushee’ and Tea Geary finished first and second place in the girls’ race.  The Girls team won the day’s event with a score of 53 amongst 13 teams participating.  Many of the runners posted personal best times.  Andrew Janetsky placed 19th overall for the boys’ races.  The team is preparing for the post season and the upcoming regional qualifier at Burke Lake on Thursday April 8th. 

Hornet golf team plays today in the Regional Qualifier at Herndon Centennial.  Nick Caggiano, Aidan Robertson, Michael Warder, Max Norcross, Ben Krauss and Bryce Calderwood are representing the Herndon team at the qualifier today.   Last week, senior Sydney Bourdeau, Corryn Jones and Sophie Konopaske were recognized before their match.  Sydney Bourdeau shot a 45 to qualify for the Girls Golf Regional Championship.  23 boys and girls are on the golf team this season. 

Congratulations to Kate LaRosa and Ben Tasaki for being named 1st Team All Region Cheerleading.  Herndon’s Katrina Cabral was named 2nd Team All Region.  The Herndon Cheer Team advanced to the Regional Finals.

 

Action

Herndon Football, Field Hockey and Volleyball are all in action this week.

Field Hockey playing at home Tuesday vs. South Lakes (Varsity only at 6:15 pm) and Thursday vs Washington-Liberty (6:15/7:30).

Volleyball plays at Langley on Tuesday (Frosh/JV only at 5:00 & 6:00) and home on Wednesday vs. McLean (5, 6, 7:15). 

Football plays a JV game vs. Washington-Liberty on Wednesday at Herndon HS at 6:00 pm. 

The varsity football contest vs. Washington-Liberty has been cancelled due to W-L’s team being put on “pause” due to Covid-19 restrictions.  The possibility of rescheduling a contest with another team is being explored.  Stay tuned for any updates regarding the rescheduling of the Varsity Football game on April 1st.

Herndon Dance team celebrated Senior Night on March 19th at the Football game vs Yorktown.  Seniors Shelby Key and Elise Merola were recognized for the 4 years of leadership and dedication.  The dance team entertained the fans at halftime with an exciting routine.
