2021 Student Peace Award Winner
Senior Betty Soloman was selected as one of the 25 FCPS students to receive a Student Peace Award. This award recognizes students who work in their communities as peacemakers. Betty is an active member of the One Day Seyoum Organization, which aims to end human rights abuses in Eritrea and support Eritrean refugees. Through donation drives, she helped collect hygiene products and clothing to send to families in Eritrea. Read more about her involvement here! |

Regional Science Fair Results
The Hayfield Science Department is pleased to announce the results of the Regional Science Fair competition. This year, science fair was voluntary, but after review at the school level we were pleased to send on 10 teams to the regional science fair competition. All ten teams were recognized with either category placement or organizational awards at this year’s regional fair. See the full results here!
Academy Dance Student of the Quarter
Each quarter a student enrolled in Academy dance classes at West Potomac High School is awarded "Student of the Quarter." Students are highlighted for many reasons, including their work ethic, character, dedication, academic curiosity, resilience and passion for the career field.
Hayfield student Amanda Purrington was chosen as the 2nd quarter recipient for Hip Hop Dance! Ms. Betzel writes “Amanda is a wonderful performer that shows love and interest in dance and the performing arts with her dedication to the class and her assignments. She is one of the most remarkable student-communicators I have experienced. She is always prepared and contributing to every lesson in class as well as taking on leadership roles during group work in class.”
