A Message from Ms. Jankovich

Happy Spring Break Eve!

I hope that everyone has something fun planned next week. Whether you are visiting someone you have not seen in a long time, enjoying some home improvement projects, or celebrating Easter, it's time to be with friends and family, soaking up the warmer weather. I continue to be so appreciative Sangster students, staff, and parents.  I plan on catching up on some emails and sleep over the next few days!

After Spring Break, we will focus on many important upcoming events:  SOL testing for students in grades 3  - 6 (an email will be going out later tonight with more details), Kindergarten Orientation (date TBD), and of course our 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony. While we are planning for these events, please know we will also be planning for the return of some students for 4 days a week of in person learning. Thank you to those of you who have reached out regarding this.  While we are still waiting for clear guidance from the district on 3ft. of social distancing and how this could impacts more students coming back in person, our planning efforts will continue.

You have all said it before, and I know we have as well.  These teachers and students are AMAZING. Thank you to everyone for the smooth start.

Have a great week!

FCPS Cares!

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond

Positivity Project

Week of March 21

Humor

This week’s character strength is Humor. You show this strength when you like to laugh and bring smiles to others. For individuals, humor has important health benefits, both mental and physical. Humor stretches the mind to look at things from different perspectives, keeping people mentally agile and alert. Making people laugh also produces positive emotions and happiness for the initiator. And, when people are on the receiving end of humor, they also receive many benefits. Scientists have shown that laughter reduces stress, promotes connection with other people, and can even improve focus. Laughter is contagious and bonds us to other people.

The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).

P2 focus for the week of April 4: Other People Mindset - identifying and appreciating the good in others.
