Sad News for our Westgate Community

Dear Westgate Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the unexpected passing of our beloved colleague, and friend, Hung Trinh.  Mr. Hung served as the Building Supervisor at Westgate for the past 23 years.  For those of you who had the opportunity to meet him, you know he always led with kindness, positivity, and a genuine compassion for our staff and students.  In many ways, Westgate was a second home for Hung, and he worked tirelessly to ensure our school was meticulously clean and shining with pride.

The loss of Mr. Hung has hit our staff community hard, and we imagine that our students may possibly have questions in the days to come.  Our entire mental health team (Ms. VanTassel, Ms. Starr, Ms. Callister, & Ms. Myers) is here to support in any way they can and here is a link to ways we can support children during times of grief and loss.

In addition to so many other things, we will miss Mr. Hung's infectious smile, endless generosity, and his thoughtful care of others.  He was a wonderful soul who leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and kindness.  We are forever grateful that he was a part of our Westgate family and our thoughts are with his entire family during this very difficult time.

Sincerely,

Hallie Demetriades

Principal
