Dear Fairfax,
Happy Friday, and we made it to Spring Break! Today also marks the end of 3rd quarter for our students, so I hope that we all find some time to step away from school and relax. We all need it. For students who selected in person but have not attended, we’ve asked that the decision be made to commit to attending or not by today. We plan to assess classroom space and craft a plan to add more students as space allows in the weeks after Spring Break.
As per the usual, during Spring Break, most of our staff will not be available and are off contract, and many of the remaining staff have taken leave. Our main office will be closed, and I ask that our community be patient with emails: We will work to catch up and respond as quickly as possible once we return.
After the weather postponed our PI Day last week, I was ready to accept my consequences: A pie in the face on a beautiful night--just before we celebrate our senior football players, cheerleaders, and dance team. But, I was recently informed that…seniors don’t want me to be pied! I wonder if the data source deciding that was reliable? I’ll take it.
Seniors have been invited to watch the game at Fairfax at Entrance 23, and they may even hear their classmates with the return of our Pep Band! We are looking forward to welcoming them, seeing how this watch-party event works and what challenges we need to plan for, and then perhaps extending the opportunity to other students as guidelines allow in the very near future.
Here is to a *brighter* very near future for our Fairfax Family!

WE NEED YOUR HELP
The FHS PTSA is continuing our search for parents to serve on the Board for the 2021 - 2022 school year.
We are particularly in need of a:
-
Treasurer - preferably someone with an accounting/finance background who is comfortable balancing books
-
President who is able to direct our agenda and lead our meetings
-
Two Vice President positions to assist the President.
- We have interested candidates for Hospitality and Membership who would love to have a partner to work with if you are the type of person who prefers to work as a team
Our goal is to have the Board reflect the diversity of our school community and classrooms. Meetings are currently on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (virtually until we resume in person meetings). Please contact Heather Rupp jetsn22@verizon.net or Wendy Everard wendy.everard@gmail.com for more information.

Restaurant Fundraiser
For the week of April 5-9th, Rita's of Fairfax will host a friendly rival competition between Fairfax and Woodson High Schools. Any guests who come in from either school will need to ask for a receipt after they order and they will drop their receipt into a bucket labeled for the school they are supporting. At the end of the week, Rita's of Fairfax will tally the receipts. Both schools will receive a percentage of the sales their supporters brought in and in addition, the school with the most participation will receive an additional monetary bonus. At this time Rita's of Fairfax is not allowing dine-in, however, it does have takeout, grab-and-go, as well as delivery options through Grub Hub, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Rita’s would just need the person ordering through one of those platforms to make a note on their delivery order that they are supporting one of the schools so we can include those orders in the tally.
**********************************************************
Seniors and Senior Parents
We need your input! Please fill out this short survey. We are asking families for ideas on how to recognize our deserving Senior Class this year in a safe, fun manner. We need to know whether your senior student wishes and feels comfortable to attend/ participate in ANG, what type of event is preferred, and whether there is a preference for a day or evening event, long or short. ANG will be held the same day as graduation, June 1, 2021 for the almost 600 Fairfax High School students who are graduating.
Lets celebrate our Seniors, Interest form
