Celebrating our Students!

Our weekly recognition of students who are demonstrating excellence in academics, behavior or citizenship.

  • Cristi Amaya-Quintero - Cristi is a diligent, hard-working young lady and one of the superstars in my sixth period English class. She turns in work of the highest caliber, is passionate about success, and isn't afraid to ask questions when she needs clarification. She is a joy to work with and has a great attitude! – Mr. Mahan

Attendance Matters!

Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes.

Consider these important and interesting facts about attendance:

  • Half of students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.
  • Research shows that missing 10% of the school year (about 18 days total) negatively affects a student’s academic performance.  That’s just two days a month, and that’s known as chronic absenteeism.
  • Students who are chronically absent are over 7 times more likely to drop out.

AP Testing Updates for Spring 2021

With AP Testing looking a little different this year, we wanted to inform you of updated information about AP Testing this spring so that you can plan accordingly.  Many of your students attended one of the information sessions that were held on Friday, March 12 (during Advisory) or on Tuesday, March 16th (after school).  If you or your student would like to access the PowerPoint from the presentation, it can be found HERE. We will be updating the FCHS AP Webpage with additional information throughout the spring.

Please review the calendars that are posted on our webpage with the test dates and how they will be administered (digital or paper/pencil which is in school).  Note that all World Language Exams and the Music Theory Exam will ONLY be offered in the paper/pencil format within the school building.

ALL AP STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THIS FORM BY MARCH 24th - FCHS AP Exam Schedule Acknowledgement Form (note that students must be logged into the fcpsschools.net accounts to access it)

  • Students will use this form to opt out of taking an exam if they decide they no longer want to take it.
  • Students will indicate if they would like to take the exam in the digital format instead of paper/pencil in the school building (reminder that the World Language and Music Theory exams cannot be taken digitally).
  • Students can request to take digital test in the school building if their home environment is not conducive to testing.  Completing this request does not guarantee that it will be approved.

If you paid for test and have decided not to take it and would like a refund, the deadline to request this is May 3rd and you must complete this form  FCPS AP Exam Cancelation Refund Form (note that students must be logged into the fcpsschools.net accounts to access it)

If you have any questions or concerns regarding AP Testing, please feel free to contact the AP Testing Coordinators - Katherine Vargas (kvargas1@fcps.edu) and Kirsten Wiley (knwiley@fcps.edu) and/or the AP Coordinator Sorya Or (sor@fcps.edu).
