Good Afternoon Parents and Families:
I can’t believe we are already at the end of the 3rd quarter, where we have now completed three weeks of concurrent instruction. Our students and staff continue to impress me with their patience and willingness to try new things. Similar to what has been done the last two quarters, I ask for you to take a few moments to complete this very brief End-Of-Quarter Survey.
For the last several weeks, I have shared a video to highlight some of the great things happening at Stone. As we continue to focus on our sense of community for ALL students and staff, check out what Stone students and staff members have to say about “What it means to belong?”

Portrait of a Panther
Once again our students continue to do a great job both in-person and in the virtual setting. I have really enjoyed getting to learn more about our students’ interests and always love having informal conversations with them. This week’s Portrait of a Panther winners demonstrated some excellent communication and collaboration skills. Please find our Portrait of a Panther winners for the week of March 15th.
Catch Up Day Reminder
This is a reminder we will have our 3rd quarter Catch-Up Days on Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26. Students who attend school in-person should still plan to attend in-person. Students who attend virtual should log into their classes as usual. No new work will be assigned for any students, rather it will be a chance for students to catch up on missing assignments.
Early Release Reminder
Next Friday (3/26) is an Early-Release Day. We will follow the same schedule we did a few weeks ago for both our in-person and virtual students.
Hearing and Vision Screening
Starting the week of March 23rd, all in-person 7th grade students and 8th grade students new to FCPS will participate in a hearing and vision screening through their Health and PE class. If you do not want your child to participate in this screening, please complete this form. Information for screening virtual students will be forthcoming.
Attendance and Early Dismissal Reminders
- If your child is scheduled to come to school in-person, but needs to attend online for any reason, please notify us through our Attendance Line through one of the following ways:
- If your child is scheduled to come to school in-person, but attends school virtually AND you have not notified the attendance line, you will receive an automated call informing you that your child has been marked absent.
- If this happens and you forgot to call, please call the above attendance line.
- For all students, virtual and in-person, please remember to call in your child’s absence.
- If you plan to pick your child up early for an appointment, please call 703-631-5500 or send a note to the main office upon arrival (before 7:30am).
