Kindergarten Orientation

We are happy to announce that we are taking registrations for students who will be in Kindergarten during the 2021-2022 school year. In order to register your child for the 2021-2022 school year, parents will need to complete the registration forms, provide the original birth certificate, a copy of their deed or lease with their name on it as proof of residency, and provide the Virginia School Entrance Health Form, completed and signed by a U.S. physician. The physical must be dated within twelve months of the projected school start date of August 23, 2021.

Here at Forestville, we will be hosting a Kindergarten Orientation for our Forestville families. The orientation is for children who will be 5 years old by September 30, 2021. The orientation will give you the opportunity to virtually meet our K team and other Forestville staff members, learn about our K program, see what a day in the life of a kindergartener looks like and provide you with a Q&A session to answer any questions you may have. In order to access the virtual orientation, a link will be sent out to you by email for you to join in the session, so please get registered so that you can have access to that link. Please be on the lookout for that email in the near future.

Here are the details for the orientation:

What: Virtual K Orientation

Once again, we look forward to welcoming our newest members to the Forestville Elementary family and virtually meeting all of you in April. Please reserve only one slot per student name.  Please have your child on time and ready to smile! There will not be a make-up day.

2) Order and pay for your Photos:

Attached is the Provine School Picture Order Form. To order online VISIT: WWW.PREPAYORDERS.COM (school code: fe7435)

Cash (exact, photographers do not carry change) or check (payable to Provine School Pictures) will be accepted by photographer on PICTURE DAY ONLY.  Bring payment and completed order form.

3) Procedures - Safety and social distancing protocols:

Prior to coming in for your appointment, please review the Health Screening Questionnaire here. If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions, please do not bring your child to picture day.

Everyone entering the school must wear a mask.

Parents should bring their student(s) to Door 10 (Gym hall entrance) where a representative from Provine School Pictures, will check you in. Your child will then proceed into the gym for the photograph.

Cameras will be set up on either side of the gym to maintain social distancing.  Students will wear their mask until they come up to the camera.  They will take it off and place in their lap, have their picture taken, put the mask back on, and immediately exit through doors at back of gym to reunite with parents.

Attendance Message

In Virginia, students enrolled in public schools are required to attend school regularly, regardless of the type of instruction offered.

FCPS must record student attendance every school day.

Parents should report their student’s absences to school any day students are unable to participate in learning, including on Mondays. They may report the absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.

When parents do not report their students’ absences, an eNotify (electronic) message will reach parents about the student absence.

Parents then can reach the school and provide information about the student absences.

Common reason why students may not be able to participate in learning:

  • Student illnesses
  • Religious holiday observances
  • Temporary family hardship, such as temporary relocation
  • Lack of reliable Internet connection. School personnel need to know if families are experiencing challenges in accessing online instruction, so that they can offer support and connect families to resources.

An unexcused absence is one for which the parent or guardian does not have prior knowledge, consent, and/or legitimate reason. Examples of reasons that are not justified and will result in an unexcused absence include: family and/or student vacations, childcare situations, non-school-related activities, missed school bus, or other reasons unacceptable to the principal or his or her designee. This definition holds for all day and period absences.
