MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: Response to Violence Against AAPI

Good Afternoon Bulldogs,

I want to address the increased violence and the fatal shootings in Atlanta on Tuesday, March 16th. I am heartbroken that we have seen yet another incident of violence, harassment, and hate – this time targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The emotions around these heinous acts have certainly left our Asian American & Pacific Islander community with great sadness, anxiety and fear and we are here to support them. As a Bulldog Family, we grieve with the families of the victims as well as our own Asian American & Pacific Islander community.

At Westfield, we denounce all forms of discrimination, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, economic standing, or personal circumstance. We embrace diversity and strive toward a culture where each and every student feels included, seen, and heard. We stand with FCPS and the Response to Increased Violence Against Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders  https://www.fcps.edu/response-aapi-harassment. As FCPS has shared, we will work to continue to address all misinformation and xenophobic language that leads to any form of mistreatment of our students, families, and colleagues from Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

We must stand together and support each other as a Bulldog Community.

With Love and Dedication,

Tony DiBari

Proud Principal, Westfield High School
