Staying Virtual, Staying Connected

lces

We know there has been a great deal of focus the last few weeks on our students returning to Lees Corner in-person. Please know that every student is important to us and that we will continue to determine ways in which our 100% virtual students and families are still connected! Our teachers and students have developed new ways of learning in both the virtual and hybrid settings. Though some of us will not be in the same physical space, we are committed to ensuring our entire community feels included and valued. Whether in person or online, we are still One LCES Family, #StrongerTogether!

We look forward to the day when ALL Lees Corner students can be back together physically in our building!

Music in Our Schools Month

mm

March is Music in Our Schools Month.  To celebrate, we are doing a school-wide game, “Mystery Teacher Music Game.” Our teachers and staff have written down how MUSIC has been a part of their lives. To play the game, students can check out a PADLET and try to guess which teacher goes with each description. There will be clues given during the morning news. There is a Clue Tracker Sheet where students can write down the clues and make their guesses! The MYSTERY TEACHERS will be revealed later in the month. The Padlet and the tracker sheet are in the students Music Google Classrooms. Thank you to our teachers and staff who contributed!!!

Good luck!

Planning to Travel During Spring Break? Here's Guidance

tr

Spring Break is just around the corner. Here are some tips to be aware of as you make plans to travel:

  • The Virginia Department of Health urges all Virginians to avoid non-essential travel, especially if you are at higher risk of serious COVID-19 or if you will be visiting someone at higher risk of serious COVID-19. This recommendation applies to everyone, even if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have fully recovered from COVID-19.
  • FCPS does not currently have travel restrictions. Students are not required to quarantine or provide COVID 19 test results for either domestic or international travel. Parents may opt to keep their students at home for 14 days after they return from travel, however, it is not required.
  • Per the Student Health and Safety Guidance Document, a Daily Health Screening Questionnaire will be required for all students attending in-person instruction. These daily health screening questionnaires will be completed on an honor basis and will not be required to be submitted to the school.
  • Upon returning, any student, staff or visitor demonstrating symptoms of illness is asked to stay home to help “Stop the Spread” of COVID-19.

Medications in School

m

With students returning to school, there may be a need to have medications at school. If your child will need to take prescription or over the counter medication during the school day, please carefully read this information document.

Medications may be dropped off at the school Mondays through Fridays from 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. If you have questions, you may contact Kathryn Mullins, our school health aide, at kbmullins@fcps.edu.

If you will be dropping off medication, please note the following:

  • Only one parent at a time will be permitted in the Health Room.
  • Practice social distancing while in the building.
  • Be prepared to wait while all forms and medications are checked carefully to avoid errors.
