Churchill Chatter - Issue 31, March 21, 2021

Dear Churchill Road Families,

This week we welcomed back half of our third-sixth graders who have chosen the two day return to school option!  It was awesome!  Teachers have spent time getting to know their new technology setups, the new logistics of the building as well as their new students- in the cases where classroom teachers switched.:

We look forward to maintaining a strong sense of belonging for your child  whether in-person or virtual as we head into the final stretch of this (unbelievable) school year. As always, please reach out with any questions or celebrations you may have.

Sincerely,

Ms. Pierson and Ms. Niccolls

PTA Reflections Contest Update -- VA State Winner!

hope

Virginia PTA Outstaning Interpretation Winner in Photography (Intermediate Division) - taken by CRS 5th grader Emily Paschkewitz.

On March 15th, the Virginia PTA held a virtual award ceremony to announce the results at the state level for the Reflections competition. Reflections is the National PTA's program to encourage and recognize student creativity - over 300,000 students participate each year with entries in dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. This year's theme is I Matter Because.

Congratulations to 5th grader Emily Paschkewitz! Her entry, Hope, won the Outstanding Interpretation award (first place) in the Photography category -  Intermediate division. In her artist statement, Emily wrote, "I matter because I can change the world with my ideas and happiness. By sharing a little happiness I can give others hope. Every time I give someone a little hope and happiness, they can help change the world too."

Good luck to Emily as she moves on to compete nationally in the final round with the National PTA!
