Attendance Matters!

Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes. Please visit the Falls Church High School website attendance page for updated policies and procedures.

What are some simple things we can all do about attendance?

  • Positively encourage good attendance with your children
  • Communicate about obstacles to attendance so the school can offer support
  • Encourage, support, and assist your children with learning and acting responsibly by:
    • Asking specific questions about classes and homework
    • Get to know your child’s teachers
    • Reach out to teachers when your child is struggling

Avoid absences unless absolutely necessary!

Schoolwide 3rd Qtr. "Catch Up Days"

FCPS has directed all schools to designate two “Catch Up Days” per quarter on their school calendars.  Based on consultation with the Administrative and Instructional Leadership Teams, FCHS' “Catch Up Days” for the 3rd Quarter will be Thursday, March 18th (Green Day) and Friday, March 19th (White Day).

The intent of these days is to provide students the opportunity to complete previously assigned work, including missed assignments/assessments and/or previously assigned longer term assignments that have not yet reached the due date.  Teachers will provide no new instruction or assessments on these days.

These will be synchronous instructional days for virtual students and in-person instructional days for in-person students.  All students will follow their regular schedule and attendance will be taken.  Teachers will be available to provide students support during each class period.

We hope this opportunity provides students additional time to complete outstanding work as we near the end of the 3rd Quarter and Spring Break.

Exciting FCHS Food Pantry Update

A huge thanks to all of you who volunteered for and/or donated to our pantry so far. You already do so much; your generosity in supporting this vital initiative is above and beyond. Last week we provided our first distribution of much-needed food support to numerous Jaguar families! With your and our larger community’s assistance, our families received a robust supply of necessities.

To those who participated in the March 6th Red Bag Program—the cornerstone of our pantry’s supplies--you helped set a record: 20,000 pounds of food collected.

Our next distribution for FCHS families is March 22 (delivery Day) and March 23rd (school pick-up) If you would like to help prepare, distribute, and/or deliver food boxes, please email one of the FCHS social workers, Carolina Diaz (CBdiaz@fcps.edu), Shannon Stapleton (smstapleton@fcps.ed), or Andrea Chottiner (amchottiner@fcps.edu). For details overall about the food pantry, please visit the FCHS Food Pantry page on the PTSA website.
