Woodburn News - March 19, 2021

3-19

Dear Woodburn Families,

It is wonderful to have a full house!  We have loved welcoming back many of our Gr. 3-6 students this past week.  Seeing old friends reconnect and the light in our teachers' eyes brings us so much joy.  Our students are doing a wonderful job observing safety measures and our teachers are not missing a beat as they integrate concurrent teaching.

A huge thank you to our amazing families for your ongoing support. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to another strong week together.

Together we grow!

Katy and Bridget

Meal Distribution March 22 - April 7

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is committed to providing all students access to meals during one early release school day, the week of spring break when schools are closed and one teacher workday when students are not in school. Information about meal delivery can be found here

Who's Behind the Mask?

As we have transitioned back to school we have been playing the guessing game Who’s Behind the Mask among staff. So we turned it into a concurrent bulletin board! If you are in-person you can find it in the hallway by the reading room. If you are online you can view it here. Can you guess who the teachers are? Happy Guessing!

Using CCT Strategies at Home

How can you use CCT strategies at home with your kids?

Helping our students at Woodburn become better critical and creative thinkers is our goal. By strengthening these two complementary thinking strategies, your children will be better prepared to meet all of the challenges of their lives including academics. One way to accomplish this is to practice these skills at home. I hope that you will watch this video where we had some fun solving the common problem of a ‘messy room’ using CCT strategies.

Thank you for your continued interest in Woodburn Elementary. Our CCT strategies represent just one focus of instruction that is making a difference in our students. If you have any questions about anything that was highlighted here, please contact me and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

March Clean Kitchen Night

Wednesday, March 24

q

We’re looking forward to next week’s “Clean Kitchen Night”. We invite you to pick up a healthy and delicious meal (or meals to freeze) for your whole family at the end of the school day on March 24 (4-6 PM) from SeoulSpice. In doing so, you’ll help us raise money for our beloved Woodburn Wildcats. The menu is like a Chipotle of Korean flavors: pick your protein then load up on vegetables on a bed of rice, gluten-free noodles or salad of kale and lettuce. Individual and family meals are available.

In order to participate in this restaurant night, you must pre-order your meal by 11am on March 24 and then pick up the meal from Woodburn Elementary between 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday, March 24.

View the menu here and go ahead and pre-order your meal anytime between now and 11am on March 24. This link is just for the Woodburn restaurant night fundraiser and must be used to have your food delivered to Woodburn on the 24th.

Remember to pre-order by 11am on March 24: https://dropoff.seoulspice.com
