Important Upcoming Dates

  • Thursday, March 11 & Friday, March 12 - Asynchronous learning for 3rd through 6th Grade Students

Office Hours 

Island Creek's main office will be closed on Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2 for the Spring Break holiday.  


Helpful Reminders 

Island Creek's school hours are 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM. The complete bell schedule is as follows:

General Education Classes 9:00 - 3:30
PAC 9:00 - 3:30
Preschool (morning) 9:00 - 12:15
Preschool (afternoon) 12:15 - 3:30


*The building opens for in-person students at 8:50 am. Classes begin promptly at 9:00 am. Students are expected to be in the classroom when the second bell rings at 9:00 am. Attendance records are marked “tardy” when a student is late for and not in their classroom by 9:00 am. Do not send your child to school before 8:50 am. There is no supervision of students before 8:50 am, or after 3:40 pm.

An arrival video has been created by staff to help with the transition of returning to the school building.

Items your student should bring on days of in-person learning:

  • Mask(s) (Label with your child’s full name)
  • Water bottle (Label with your child’s full name)
  • School supplies (Label with your child’s full name)
  • Laptop, charger and headphones
  • Hand sanitizer (optional)
  • Disinfectant wipes (optional)
  • Tissues for personal use (optional)

Additional items may be requested by your student's teacher, contact them via email with any questions.


Curbside Library Service

Curbside library service at Island Creek will begin Monday, March 15 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  

Books can be placed on hold using Destiny. When you place your hold on a book that is available in the library (on the shelf) Destiny will indicate that it is “ready” for pick up. Please disregard this message. Wait for an email from Jill Woodall indicating that your books have been pulled, checked out and are ready for pick up. Most emails will go directly to your students’ fcpsschools.net Google Mail account. 

Please know that because of the need to quarantine and safely distribute books, there may be a short wait time for items which are listed as available.

When you receive your confirmation email from Jill Woodall, saying that your books are ready for pickup, you will be given a time frame between 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Mondays. You will be met at your car in the Kiss & Ride lane by a staff member. Give them your name and they will take any returns and give you your checkouts.

Forms

Forms only need to be completed one time, per child. 

This document indicates the parent or guardian’s agreement and commitment to completing a daily health screening prior to sending the student to school and also to keep sick students at home. Complete the form online using ParentVUE.

We cannot accept Emergency Care/Health forms that are not signed and dated within the 2020-21 school year (starting September 2020). 

If you already have a Parent SIS account, you can go to weCare@school for detailed instructions on completing the emergency care form using FCPS 24-7 Learning (login with your ParentVUE credentials). 

We ask that you please do not send in any photos of forms.

Medication

Parents will need to drop-off medications and the appropriate forms prior to their child returning to in-person instruction. Call the school for an appointment to drop off these items. 


Now Accepting Kindergarten/New Student Enrollments for the 2021-2022 School Year

Do you have a child that will be five years old by September 30, 2021? Do you live in the boundaries of Island Creek Elementary School? To find out, use the FCPS boundary locator.

Please fill-in the New Student Registration page located on the Island Creek website. Your form will be submitted to our school Student Information Assistant, Theresa Painter, who will be able to assist you with the registration process.


Ordering Student Photos

Parents who would like to order their student's individual photos from LifeTouch can do so online using the Picture Day ID: EVTWMHXVP.

Photo proofs usually take 2-3 weeks to process for viewing. If you have any questions about ordering photos, LifeTouch customer service can be reached at 1-800-736-4753.
